Maurice “Mom” Boucher dead

Post by antimafia »

Quebec journalist Félix Séguin tweeted about this a few minutes ago.

I think that Daniel Renaud had his article published online first.

Just a couple weeks after Sonny Barger croaked. Wasn't it reported a few years ago that Mom had been kicked out of the HA? Would be interested to see what his funeral is like. If he hadn't killed those prison guards he would have probably only ended up getting a sentence like Stadnick got in the springtime 2001 case and he would have been home a few years ago. How would he have fit in to the milieu in the last few years when all these bodies have been dropping? We know he was in the mix even in prison seeing as how he was trying to kill Desjardins.

Peter Edwards is a tremendous journalist but there are several errors in this piece — with the biggest being his statement that Gregory Woolley was a Hells Angels member. That’s just factually incorrect.

Yea he was a full-patch Rocker I believe, but never an HA. That's a pretty glaring mistake for an article like this. I didn't realize that Donnie Peterson died. He was always the clean face that the club used (and the PDR before he patched over) to be their spokesman. Very smart guy, well-spoken and completely legit.

To be fair to Edwards, a lot of articles state Woolley was the first black HA member.

Hell's Witness by Daniel Sanger is the best imo, although it specifically follows the life of informant Dany Kane it has a lot of good info about the war in general and the biker milieu of Montreal. The book's conclusion may be too much of a "conspiracy theory" for some readers but I think it's something to consider, when we constantly see (in pretty much every country) informants who basically have a license to kill.

The Biker Trials by Paul Cherry is another really good one with a lot of great info about the war, the drug dealing and money laundering operation that was busted shortly afterwards and the subsequent trials.

I Was a Killer for the Hells Angels: The Story of Serge Quesnal is a decent one if you can find an Engish version. Doesn't give a broad vision of the war in general but rather this specific informant who was active in the Quebec City and Trois-Rivieres areas which are usually overshadowed by what was taking place in Montreal. Some parts are questionable or awkwardly translated but it's worth reading if you can find it.

Hells Angels at War by Yves Lavigne has some value in that it lists most of the murders that happened in the war from when it started until some point in 1999 when the book was written, as well as chapters on the Nordic biker war and the brief war between the HA and the Outlaws in the 90s in Illinois when the Angles expanded there. At the end of the book it has some internal HA documents like minutes from some meetings (I think from the Oakland chapter or something like that) which you might find interesting. But man, Lavigne is such a blowhard and a clown that it can be hard to read his books sometime so I wouldn't recommend this one too hard.

The procession referred to in the article to which I’ve linked below is ostensibly in memory of Donny Petersen.
