I feel like over the years I've read about and heard about so much Gotti shit...even as recent as some of Sammy's new podcasts... that all of the names and events from that era just all blend together and I forget what was actually reported as happening. I could be wrong but weren't all of the shooters mentioned in Underboss? And by proxy, since he's essentially rehashing those stories on YouTube now, one of the Podcast episodes? I could be wrong but I feel like Gene wasn't a shooter, but definitely was a part of the planning and met up with everyone before the hit. Unless he was dealing with other charges, he wasn't sentenced and remanded until 1989 for his big pinch I'm pretty sure
They said they met in the community center of a NYCHA building on the Lower East Side the day of the hit, I think it was the Baruch Houses right along the FDR - someone knew the Superintendent and they all met there. Smart place to meet, unlike how the Ravenite was set up, it would be very difficult to stake out and get surveillance if someone happened to see a bunch of wiseguys walk into one of the buildings or pull into the parking lot

These guys want to live out their day in peace and receive an envelope. But that envelope receipt could lead to more charges, without being active. Should have taken the deal the state offered; would have been out in 9 or less. Steal of a Deal. Gotti Sr.: no deals. Hmmmm, that edict has fucked guys from Mulberry Street to Washington Ave. in Belleville.

Not saying Gene spending like 30% of his life in Prison was a good, beneficial thing for him - but realistically if he was able to get a sweet deal at the time and took it, and did his 87% and came home...he most likely would have gotten caught up and indicted again in something else.

I seriously don’t see him doing anything else. Like someone said the mobs still around but it ain’t like it was it ain’t the 90s or even the early 2000s. 30 yrs is a lot and all the people loyal to his brothers flipped or are in the can.
Like say you’re a modern day Gambino and you have half a brain. Do You want to be around a Gotti after John & Peters handling that got everybody arrested, with the rat nephew who goes on TV, and the nephew robbing banks in Howard beach.

If he had taken the deal he almost certainly would've been boss. He would've come out around when junior was going away and would've taken it over Peter.newera_212 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:21 am Not saying Gene spending like 30% of his life in Prison was a good, beneficial thing for him - but realistically if he was able to get a sweet deal at the time and took it, and did his 87% and came home...he most likely would have gotten caught up and indicted again in something else.
After that who knows but he likely would still be boss and getting a kick, free or not.
