Gigante was in an admin position/ruling panel already by that point but does evidence show it was a Tieri and Lombardo (and Salerno?) decision solely or did all the captains likely have a say, the way that Catena and Tieri were considered/selected in previous decades?
Also, does anyone happen to know who the West side captains were in 79/80/81?
I've been reading about Tieri and the Genovese admin in the 70s plus that great new west side 1963 thread and am wondering what power capos held by the time Tieri was done and Chin was slated next. Kingmaking-wise was it the Lombardo show purely?

The book about Gigante from Larry says that Gigante became the boss after Lombardo and Salerno stepped aside.Didn’t say anything about the Capo’s choosing
