Re: ndrangheta/mafia in australia
they said that they can only confirm that 14 of them belong to Ndrangheta, but I think most likely the rest also are affiliated with it. And then they speak about some 5,000 members, can't believe that's referring to full members of Ndrangheta. Maybe they include the close associates as well.

The first ndrina was formed in 1922 so its strage the numbers of 5000 members. They also killed the first polotician Donald Mckay in 1977.

Just to make it confusing a little more, there is members of the Papalia, Musitano and Commisso families in Australia

There is also a Diego "Danny" Luppino in Melbourne but I'm not sure he's a relative to the Luppinos of Hamilton/Oppido Mamertina

Re: ndrangheta/mafia in australia
Yeah the migrant families moved all over and the Papalias were surely connected at some stage so are the Commisso between Perth and Toronto, but the Luppino not sure - it is quite contested in Australia already right (his ndrangheta status, notwithstanding Italian sources) - he does go around with people from Oppido too, so it might well as be, he is not from Oppido though that I know of, but village next door I think

The obituaries in print for the Ontario-based John Papalia, Dominic Musitano Sr. (father of Pat, Angelo, and Dominic Jr.), and Giacomo Luppino all generally mentioned surviving relatives in Australia.
