So I'm assuming everyone here is aware of the body in a barrel discovered in Lake Mead the other day, a result of historically low water levels in the lake. The police say it's a man who was killed by gunshot in the late 70s early 80s.
Any LV/Chicago guys have any thoughts if this could possibly be a victim of mob violence? If so, who? Any wiseguys in the area go missing in that timeframe?
And if you say 'It's Jimmy Hoffa' then I implore the moderators to ban you from the board.
I have no idea, but it does bring up a topic that I've tried to get more clarity on in the past. What Vegas related murders do we actually think Spilotro might have been involved in. Here's the list of people that for whatever reason get linked to Vegas and Spilotro in the book Casino and other places, but people imply theres a whole bunch more:
Red Kilm
Rick Manzi
John and Francis Dubeck
Marty Buccieri
Sherwin Lisner
But that's all I've actually got for in Vegas. Then you've got these that are somewhat Vegas related but didn't happen there:

I mean, its as likely Hoffa as any other guess at this point in time lol
The "body in a barrel" is a sort of mob hallmark, but really it could have been done by anyone with access to that type of equipment. I saw a Forensic Files where an industrial worker had access to these types of barrels and killed someone, putting the body in a barrel and stashing it in a storage unit for decades.
They found that guy in the barrel. You know about that? Everybody's talkin' about it. They're makin' a big deal out of it. It's in all the papers. And I mean, that's no good. You gotta tell him to take care of things a little better.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Funkster brought this up in the Chicago Outfit Dumping Ground thread (what an appropriate name ). The first person I thought of ordering the murder was Spilotro. viewtopic.php?p=227289#p227289

Barrel music.
"Hey, hey, hey — this is America, baby! Survival of the fittest.”
Along the same topic, I've seen people comment that urban expansion out there could turn up more bodies.
As Pogo would say, A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you’re talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who’s gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all fuckin’ night.
Who was that guy they found in a barrel? What’s his name? Who you talking about roselli? Oh yeah what did you think about that? It’s one of them things Classic fratianno talking about a conversation with aiuppa on crime inc
