So crazy tough albanians that are running italians out of NYC go to a 75 year old italian guy?
Re: Gangland 5/5/2022
Doesn’t look like the Albanian guy was really a gangster unless I’m missing something. More of a bookie than anything

The Pasqua situation could have an effect on the possible retrial for Madonna and Crea
Re: Gangland 5/5/2022

Re: Gangland 5/5/2022
This Reiter story will drag on for months like the Locascio one. Pretty soon Sammy will say Mark never sold any drugs

If Rom is still captain in Queens and we believe Penissi that Tough Tony is also a captain , then I wonder what that looks like on the street
They seem to have a abundance of older members who were powerful captains, like Coppola, where I wonder how they fit into the puzzle today. The Westside chart showed 20 captain crews which seems very high for today

Romanello and Federici are the same crew.TommyNoto wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 5:01 pm If Rom is still captain in Queens and we believe Penissi that Tough Tony is also a captain , then I wonder what that looks like on the street

Coppola was last identified as a captain in 2008. Maybe he's still the official captain but, if Capeci was right in his 2020 article, DePiro is captain now.
There is likely some overlap and some guys who aren't captains anymore on the chart.

I have no reason to doubt Pennisi there. He was right about Balsamo being a captain and it sounds like had a few interactions with tough Tony so in my opinion he's most likely telling the truth. It's worth remembering though that the story he told took place a good 5+ years ago. I remember Capeci reporting the feds were looking hard into tough Tony around then and they believed he was still active.TommyNoto wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 5:01 pm If Rom is still captain in Queens and we believe Penissi that Tough Tony is also a captain , then I wonder what that looks like on the street

Re: Gangland 5/5/2022
Romanello was indicted as a captain back in 2012 and was obviously identified as such in recent news articles, though it's a little interesting that in his GL article Capeci referred to him simply as an "aging Genovese mobster." He did something similar with Sal Franco from the Gambinos.
Years ago, mobsters were recorded talking about how Federici had turned over his rackets to Romanello. And, considering Federici hasn't been charged in ages with anything, it seemed like he was at least partly retired.
Has Romanello been taken down and Federici taken over again? Was Pennisi being loose in how he referred to Federici? I don't know but I don't see any evidence they are part of separate crews.

Re: Gangland 5/5/2022
The Romanello/ Federici thing is interesting and got me thinking about something similar Anthony Arillotta talked about on Bobby Luisi's podcast. For context, when Arillotta was inducted he was reporting direct to Arthur Nigro and not formally part of the Springfield decina. He says before it was decided to kill Al Bruno, the original plan was to shelve him:
Then in the comments on one of his videos, Pennisi said the following about the Federici/ Romanello crew:Bruno don't know I'm made. Emilio [Fusco] doesn't even know I'm made. Because we're keeping it down low. They wanna insulate me.
[...]
They were gonna knock [Bruno] down and they were gonna put Felix [Tranghese] up so he gets all the heat just like they did to that guy in Connecticut. They put him up, "Here you go buddy, you're the boss over here. Go ahead." What happened to him? He lasted, what a couple of years and he ended up getting everyone indicted. So what they do is they put you up, and they were gonna do that to Felix. But meanwhile I was gonna be insulated and I would've been the guy in the area, which I was.
So there appears to be a pattern within the Genovese family of insulating their leaders on the decina level as well as the administration. We had heard Rom was handling the crew but we also knew it is a famous west-side move.

I dont see a correlation between the two. Seems completely different lol. But I respect your POV. Youre a top notch poster so not a dig.
He says knocked down which isn’t the same as shelved. Does he say shelved somewhere else in the inter?
What Connecticut guy is he talking about? Rooster?
