Also incredible in that it is possible he still retains a position in the organization. Goes without saying at his age he is not doing much, but it is certainly plausible that he could be in the advistor/accardo role still. Un-official sources like Fosco and Scott B. claim he got that spot in the early 2010's when Difronzo officially stepped down from everything.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I never understood why people think older Outfit guys go full retirement after they get out of the can or hit a certain age, meanwhile you had NY guys like Sonny Franzese a captain through his 90s until he went away again..plenty of other examples too. Lol its not some different rule in the Outfit.Coloboy wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 8:05 amAlso incredible in that it is possible he still retains a position in the organization. Exactly. It doesn't take much physical prowess to hold a meeting with someone and give directions or pass orders down the line.funkster wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 4:35 pmI never understood why people think older Outfit guys go full retirement after they get out of the can or hit a certain age, meanwhile you had NY guys like Sonny Franzese a captain through his 90s until he went away again..plenty of other examples too. Well, Franzese (like a lot of those other NY guys) kept getting indicted which showed he wasn't exactly retired. If an older Chicago (or NY for that matter) guy hasn't popped up in anything for years, people start to wonder.funkster wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 4:35 pmI never understood why people think older Outfit guys go full retirement after they get out of the can or hit a certain age, meanwhile you had NY guys like Sonny Franzese a captain through his 90s until he went away again..plenty of other examples too. I don’t think there’s much to wonder. No cases means they probably aren’t doing much. Solly d when questioned about him becoming boss by channel 7 news said the fbi follows him all the time so they should know he’s not the boss. Obviously If he was he’s not gonna admit to it. His name and venas has come up in somewhat recent cases lending credence to the theory they are involved in some way. I don’t see either of those guys completely washing their hands of the outfit but if the feds could make a. Case they would have. They indicted mataasa and Michael marcello for relatively petty stuff.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 1:27 pmWell, Franzese (like a lot of those other NY guys) kept getting indicted which showed he wasn't exactly retired. Tidbit from the John Misuraca and Andrew Lombardino files. In July 1936 a Giuseppe Scaduto was murdered near the Brooklyn HQ of Genovese capo Little Augie Carfano, allegedly by Misuraca and Salvatore Lombardino (Andrew's father) and one other on the orders of Joe Profaci for knowing too much about something, per the informant. Scaduto illegally immigrated to the U.S. only eight months earlier. His younger brother Dominick fled to Chicago and stayed with his uncle and aunt Santo and Josephine Lamantia at 457 Curtis Street. In December the three men caught up with him in at the poolroom he worked at, located at 1032 W. Grand Ave. and owned by Sam Catalino. The three gunmen ordered everyone into the back room then told Scaduto to leave with them. He refused, so the gunmen ordered everyone else and shot him three times in the back with a sawed-off shotgun.
Since they came illegally it isn't possible to find out what city they came from in Italy through the normal route. Their father was Agostino Scaduto and mother was Francesca D'Amico. Since the same informant wrote about Gaspare D'Amico, the boss of Newark, New Jersey, in the early 1930s, it's possible that they were related. Gaspare D'Amico was born in Villabate, Sicily, in 1885, to Domenico D'Amico and Angela Lombardo. In 1937, according to the informant Joe Profaci ordered Gaspare D'Amico to commit a murder, but D'Amico refused. Profaci then sent Misuraca and Lombardino and a third man to kill D'Amico. They caught him with his father and ended up wounding D'Amico and killing his father. D'Amico recovered from his injuries and fled to Puerto Rico, where he died in the 1970s. Nick Gentile connects his death with Vincenzo Troia, the former boss of San Giuseppe Jato who became a bootlegger in Rockford and Springfield. In 1930/31 he was appointed to a commission that included Nick Gentile to decided what should happen to Joe Masseria. In 1935 Troia came down from Illinois with his nephew Anthony Riela and began moving in on Newark. Gunmen shot and killed Troia and an associate, and mortally wounded his son. Riela became a member of the Bonanno crime family and a partner of Don Stefano Badami, who was either the boss of Newark or Elizabeth (more likely Elizabeth). Joe Valachi wrote that in the early 1930s he was sent to help Don Steve in Newark against Ritchie the Boot Boiardo. Badami was shot to death in 1955.
Contrary to reports, a passenger manifest shows that Agostino Scaduto arrived at Ellis Island with his sons Giuseppe and Domenico, headed to another son, Girolamo at 217 N. Avenue A in New York. They were from Villabate. Not sure of Santo and Josephine Lamantia were related to the other Lamantias. Angelo Lamantia, who was connected with Joe Aiello and later Milwaukee, was from Altavilla Milicia, which is between Bagheria and Trabia (and Termini). Shorty Lamantia's grandfather was from Termini. Santo came from "Morreale," which was probably Monreale.

Great info, had no idea about this story. And yes, “Morreale” (also commonly given as “Murriali” in Sicilianu) is a common rendering of Monreale.

Great post, Antliar.
Just a quick note, but Andrew Lombardino was the nephew of Salvatore. Salvatore's sons were Salvatore Jr. and Rosario, both made members. His other nephew Paul Lombardino was yet another member. One of the San Jose informants reported a conversation with John Misuraca's daughter where they discussed how a Lombardino in Newark was a police officer who participated in a mafia hit.
The Scaduto/Profaci connection shows there were still ties to Chicago after Profaci was settled in NYC.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Agreed. My assumption was that Profaci likely maintained ties to Chicago, and the Scaduto thing helps to shed light on that. Another potential connection could’ve been Giuseppe Priola, given the proximity of Villabate and Ficarazzi. Though Profaci may have had many connections to guys from the Bagheria-Termini “triangle”, given the close mafia connections between Villabate and Bagheria back in Sicily, which were presumably plenty salient in the US context.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I don't think that we should read too much into the Scaduto killing. The different borgatas often cooperated with each other to kill targets. Los Angeles boss Vito DiGiorgio was shot to death in Chicago in 1922, undoubtedly in a failed attempt to gain Mike Merlo's favor. In 1927 members of the St. Louis borgata killed several of their men in Illinois. Vito Genovese cooperated with Paul Ricca to kill and "disappear" Sam Pollaccia. Carl Carramusa, connected to Kansas City, was reportedly killed by gunmen from the Tampa Family in Chicago in 1945. Chicago gunmen were involved in the killing of Nick DeJohn in San Francisco in 1947. So it was just the normal way of doing things. Profaci and Ricca sat on the Commission together, so they probably enjoyed good relations. In the Scaduto case, I think it's likely that Chicago men could have watched for Scaduto and reported on his location, and this would have been relayed to the Profaci gunmen. They would have done the same with any other borgata.
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I agree it doesn't mean there was an elaborate relationship between Profaci and Chicago, but we have so little info linking Profaci to Chicago after the 1920s it's good info on its own. The Scadutos possibly being from Villabate and one of them heading to Chicago plays into that given Profaci's earlier time there.
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
The Scadutos were definitely from Villabate. It's interesting that his Chicago relatives were from Monreale. Only seen a couple other names from there in Chicago.
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
It looked to me like Profaci's alleged relatives in the midwest were not from Villabate either, as Tony found evidence one was from Corleone, while others may have been from the Chicago Palermo "triangle" (Termini ,Caccamo, Altavilla) and Bagehria. The Villabate Family were real movers and shakers across Palermo though so may have formed kinship ties with other Palermo towns. Joe's son Sal married a woman with Carini heritage (daughter of Profaci->San Jose member Frank Buffa, brother of the consigliere Joe).
