I’ve always wanted to know why Mancuso wasn’t permanently shelved for murdering his wife? Is it because the Bonannos were such a mess in the 80s and 90s that they couldn’t afford to lose him? Not only did he not get shelved but he eventually became boss of the freaking family. Always been curious about this.

Why would the Bonannos necessarily care about that?

yaeh they say the thing with the wife was a accident im sure not 1 gangster cares if the guy killed his wife. from all the reading i read. mancuso poled all the capos around Christmas 2005 he was elected boss then arressted for the randy p 2 months later.

also was surprised mike nose wasnt made till the mid to late 90tys. after he got out from 10years killing his wife. that capo pat delfiippo had a strong crew of guys. the more i read i preety sure it was pat who pulled the trugger on george from cananda. some say spirito but i think he was the driver.

Think someone else really wants that role? But I do agree he probably also does have a decent amount of respect.

You forget not very long ago several well liked veteran capos and admin members were shelved for trying to take over the family.

As for respect he’s a boss of one of the five families he’s done killings he’s done time and he’s made money along the way. He’s no Barney Bellomo but as far as bosses go Mikey Nose isn’t a slouch either.

I agree. His approach about leading from the front is probably admired by some of his men. He improves morale I bet. I know that sounds funny to say regarding the mob, but I was in the military and a great leader makes all difference in some cases whether you live or die...

It's come out Santora and Badalamenti were Mancuso loyalists and it looks like Sal Montagna played a big role helping secure Mancuso's position. That's significant given we now know Montagna wouldn't hesitate to assert his own influence through violence.

I don't remember what he said about that, but he also said Massino was concerned enough after the Sciascia hit that he met with Montagna and had someone keep an eye out.

I don't fully know what to make of him. He's still a mystery but outsiders really miscalculated him from 2006 until his murder. Wish some of those old Real Deal posts were still around, people had strong opinions that turned out to be completely wrong.

Fiordilino was his friend and said he was surprised when Montagna got made because he just seemed like a low-key working guy. Sciascia and Amato apparently had a different view.

Whatever he was, he was acting boss in the first few crucial years after Mancuso went away and was willing to go to war in Canada. We still don't know who ordered the Seccafico hit either. He was killed just a few months after Montagna was deported so that plot may have been in the works before he left. I assume Mancuso was in the loop as well given it involved his old crew.

That admin from 2006-2009 seems to have played a huge role in Mancuso surfacing as official boss given the Family was in disarray and anyone on the street could have challenged Mancuso yet he held onto power. At the time nobody on the outside theorized that Santora and Badalamenti were Mancuso guys but it turns out they were -- the perception was Mancuso had the "Bronx faction" but some of the key loyalists under Mancuso like Santora, Badalamenti, and Palazzolo aren't from the Bronx at all.

The Coppa crew and at least part of the Cantarella crew were absorbed into the Basciano/ Cicale crew in the early 2000s, with Nicholas Pisciotti (a Coppa crew guy) being made acting captain. Then, around September 2005, the entire crew was reassigned to Badalamenti. So you see him getting a significant amount of guys during Mancuso's tenure as acting boss
