Sorry I don't. Maybe Capeci? I know he wrote about the plot to kill Junior and Corozzo back in the 1990s.

Angelo Ruggiero couldn't have been a captain for too long. The attempted hit on Gaspipe was summer/ early fall 86 and Gotti shelved him after, so was his time as captain less than year?

Can you get a warrant to wiretap an old lady's apartment by telling the judge that you "deduced" that guys go in there to talk though? I'm not a lawyer but I find that hard to believe. I think they would have to show that they have specific info from a CI that Gotti is meeting guys in that apartment in order to legally bug the place.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 6:19 pm They talked about it in one of the Gotti books. The Feds had the Ravenite bugged where they picked up casual conversation among the guys. Overtime they noticed that Gotti and select others would go quiet for long periods of time and they began to wonder where they went. Their surveillance teams confirmed that none of them left the building so they knew they were still inside and meeting somewhere other than the club. Some way or another they deduced they were meeting in the
Cirelli apartment and you know the rest.

My bet is there was an informant. How they can deduce the specific apartment, which would be a huge invasion of privacy into an old woman’s apt, is hard to imagine without a CI with direct info. It’s a 5/6 story building with probably more than a dozen apartments.

Turns out it it was John Lombardi in that old NYMag article but Capeci wrote part of the series:Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 6:39 pm Sorry I don't. Maybe Capeci? I know he wrote about the plot to kill Junior and Corozzo back in the 1990s.

There are chilling surveillance photos of the late Failla, who died in 1999, talking to Junior “like an uncle” as they walk in the street, just before young Gotti was arrested himself on massive federal racketeering charges in 1998; sources now allege Failla was part of a group determined to murder Junior then, to end what was seen as the Gottis’ disastrous reign, which was killing the Gambinos with publicity; the FBI effectively saved Junior’s life by picking him up.

I don't recall if there was an informant but how many of those apartments would have been owned by a Gambino made member?

The building itself was owned by Joe LaForte. The FBI said there was an informant that said Gotti used the apartment. They couldn't figure out why Gotti wasn't heard for extended periods of time.

Were they still using the Bergin when Giacalone outed Willie Boy Johnson as a federal informant?

John Gambino's promotion to Capodecina was fairly significant. His C&G construction company represented the Gambino's in the concrete club, and the Santa Rosalia feast was a huge source of income. Not to mention his obvious ties to the other side.

Not possibly, definitely.Browniety86 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 6:52 pmWould someone like Roach Rampino have been privy to such info...him dealing H, never know he coulda took a pinch on the DL and agreed to provide information...
According to Capeci Rampino did offer to "give them Sparks", when arrested for heroin dealing to an undercover cop in 1987. He offered to wear a wire against Gotti and others involved in Sparks, even promising to retrieve one of the murder weapons if authorities would release him that same night. But he was already strung out and in obvious need of a fix, so they shipped him to a prison hospital instead. Somehow it was never brought up later on.

IIRC the Feds had the club bugged and they noticed there were periods of time where certain peoples voices would disappear so they knew Gotti an co. were going somewhere else to talk. Feds went to their informants and someone gave the info that they go upstairs to talk. Feds checked who lived in the building and Nettie Cirelli stuck out like a sore thumb.TSNYC wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 5:20 am My bet is there was an informant. I could be wrong but I think I remember it coming specifically from an informant. Maybe Norman DupontTSNYC wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 5:20 am My bet is there was an informant. I find it hard to believe a judge would approve installing a bug in one of a dozen or so upstairs apts because the widower’s dead husband was a made guy. How did they know he wouldn’t just huddle in a building hallway or stairwell for certain talks. I believe there had to have been one or more informants whose existence we haven’t learned of yet.
