Yes, they mentioned those two families specifically. It also said recent "ties" to New Jersey had been found with the Gambinos and Bonannos.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 9:21 am Thanks. I remember an article mention that only two of the NY families now have Jersey based Crews. That has to be the Genovese and Luccheses.

Who was Pasquale Conte's wife? Anyone know?
Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
Might be Josephine DiBono, 1951 marriage in Queens. The DiBonos of the Gambino Family were Palermitani in his crew.
Don't know that for a fact, needs further verification.

If anyone is able and has the time, can someone verify that I found the right Filippo LoScalzo?PolackTony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 12:51 pmWhere was the location of the club?Bruno187 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 10:43 am I grew up on the same block that Loscalzo lived on. (Actually right next door to him) Hung out in the same club that DiMatteo hung out in. Fortunato lived 3 blocks from that club and frequented it pretty often. The baker Pietro was about 2 blocks from my house. The club that I'm talking about was Papa Dave's old place in the Bronx. I mean did I see receipts that said "One button-----50K", no. but it was pretty common knowledge in the neighborhood.

The name LoScalzo, D'Amato.. it doesn't seem Calabrese to me, I would think he was Agrigentin. This could be possibly a Tampa connection and I just want to verify that it's not. I can't find his wife either. On the WW2 draft it says Mary but the only marriage reference to someone with this name is a Angie Dimino (another AG name).

Trying to look up Angelo Mannino's mother- Rose Rumore and came across this.
Having a hard time locating her, one census indicates she was born in Italy around 1902, closest match I can find is one who came from Santo Stefano di Camastra in Messina.

Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
It's Angelo Mannino's wife who was a Rumore. I mentioned earlier she came from Bisacquino:
His hometown of Torretta and her hometown of Bisacquino are confirmed on their marriage record. This is also where the info comes from about Angelo Mannino's mother being a Marino. Also stands out Angelo Mannino married a Rumore. She was from Bisacquino and her father's name Saverio Rumore is shared with the Gambino member Saverio "Sam" Rumore from Bisacquino though her father would be much older. Maybe a relation as the Gambino Rumore brothers were said to be close to the Traina crew.

Again, glad I'm going through all these names because I've found a couple mistakes. I thought these men were brothers but that doesn't appear to be the case. It's late and I'm tired, look at it more tomorrow but just dropping it here.
Cousins? Alfonso came from Gragnano and Ralph from Santa Lucia di Serino which arent exactly next to each other-

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Was Alfred Malanga ever a member?
Bill Feather’s site lists a John Malanga AKA Fritzy, possibly related to William Malanga, as a member.
William Malanga’s brother, Alfred “Fritzy” Malanga, was a known criminal.
There could have been a confusion between him and John Malanga, one of Boiardo’s associates.

Gene Catena tells Thomas Eboli about how he was introduced to a Fritzie/Fretchie by Daniel Noto. It couldn’t have been Federico "Fritzy" Giovanelli because Eboli didn’t know the guy.

There was also a Jeff Malanga who was part of the Boiardo group in the 1920s-1930s. Not sure what became of him or what his true name is -- unlikely an Italian dude was named "Jeff".

Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
Jeff Lane was his nickname, his real name was Joseph Malanga. As far as I can tell, he was the brother of the aforementioned John.
——————
Gene Catena brings up Fretchie/Fritzy right after he talks about Anthony Scotto. Plus, the Notos would have known the NJ Gambino members, their brother-in-law was Anthony Scoma, a Newark Gambino soldier.
