For a good look at the events surrounding the murder of Herbie Blitzstein you should read Breakshot, by Kenji Gallo. The murder is usually referred to as an attempt by the LA mob to take over Fat Herbie's rackets in Las Vegas, but I don't think it was all that.

Wow! The Tony Soprano of LA! I've heard the guys name, but that's all. Interesting.

Who refers to him as a made guy? He is an Argentinian musician according to these articles:

Funny thing is if this guy actually was made, he wouldn't be the first Italo-Argentinean. Tony Mops Volpe from Chicago was born in Argentina (huge Italian descendant population there of course).

That goes back to the day when people on the forums were taking every name mentioned by Kenji and plugging them in as made members even though he never claimed they were.

Seems Puggy was another LA guy who was originally from Cleveland.

On a side note - old news, but it appears that Frank Angelo Milano (probably not a made guy, but he figured on the LAPD chart) passed away around two years ago.

Does anyone have a run down of all Milanos associated with OC? Browsing through Mary Ferrel docs, there seems to have been another set of Milano brothers, also named Peter and Frank (sons of Ciccio). One of them was involved in the vending business and tried to get some machines into Frontier.

Is that Anthony Fiato that you are referring to? In his book he claims to be an associate of mobsters in the Patriarca crime family such as Joe Russo and Larry Baione before moving to Los Angeles and then working with important players in that crime family such as Mike Rizzi. I think that he became an informant for the FBI and then a government witness against the Los Angeles crime family.

Correct, yes, I was referring to Anthony Fiato - "The Animal"

Thanks for your explanations and is Fiato a credible source in his book about mob life? I have been reading it.

Is he a credible source? Well, he's all we got for that time period, so I guess you gotta go with him. Like most rats who write books, he tends to inflate his role and importance. Still, I would think he's generally reliable.

Thanks for your recent message and did Fratianno flip because he thought Brooklier and Rizzitello wanted to kill him?

Yes, that's what he explains in The Last Mafioso (and probably also in Vengeance is Mine)
