I think it would be correct to say that the current Outfit is being run by former members of Chicago street gangs, 12th st players from Cicero and the C-Notes from the patch in Chicago. The current administration is heavily filled with members from both of these gangs. This might be the most street gang members in the Outfit since the 42nd gang. I think it’s a very very high possibility that Sarno made members while he was acting boss. Has it been verified that he was a 12 st player? I would think yes considering many of his good friends were. Maybe he’s to old. Noble Knights were more in his age bracket.PolackTony wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:12 amOh wow, thanks for connecting those dots. He said that Solly D is running the Outfit and Sal Cautadella is his underboss. He said Jimmy I stays in the background of the Cicero crew and Louis Rainone calls the shots. A guy named Joe Guarino is a heavy hitter for Rainone. The killing of Anthony Catalano was because he tried to steal a truck from the Cicero guys and Jimmy I ordered his death. Thank you guys for the additional research and helping to put the puzzle together. It sounds like my contact is legit and has solid information. He only knows about Cicero. Sometimes it pays off helping to run an 18,000 member FB group about the Outfit, LOL. I just happened to post a recording of Paul Carparelli talking with George Brown and it set off a spark.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Yeah, I was about to write essentially the same take, lol. When people wonder what recruitment pool they’ve had for younger street-oriented Italians in recent decades, these are guys that in many cases will have street gang ties. Apart from that, their pool is middle class relatives of older Outfit members, a demographic that would instead likely fall in the “earner” category.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:22 amI think it would be correct to say that the current Outfit is being run by former members of Chicago street gangs, 12th st players from Cicero and the C-Notes from the patch in Chicago. Sarno was born in ‘58 and from what I know the Players were formed in the 60s so he’s definitely the right age. Plus, the Noble Knights were (per my understanding) largely Polish while the original generation 12th St Players were Italians.
If people haven’t, I think it’s very much worth reading John Hagedorn’s book on the Grand Ave crew and street gangs. His informants stated that in the 90s the Outfit was actively developing its links to the gangs via the C-Notes under Lombardo’s direction. I’d imagine that the a similar push was under way in Cicero with the Players.

Didn’t realize that was the same Branco from the Blitzstein fiasco. Crazy to think the LA family would use Branco to kill Blitzstein 10 years after he was already identified as an informant in Chicago. And they wonder why they all got caught. That’s crazyAntiliar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:25 am Thank you guys for the additional research and helping to put the puzzle together. It sounds like my contact is legit and has solid information. It certainly seemed like James Marcello was also intent on making new guys once he got out of prison in 2003. When speaking to Mickey, he alluded to several "younger, capable" guys (not sure if that was the exact description) that he had working for him. Wouldn't surprise me if Sarno did, too. Probably also no coincidence that both of these guys are serving hard time; life, in Marcello's case.

Well I just don't know. By this time Cooley seems to be way out of the loop and I wish I could find a '93 report that mentions the EP crew. Perhaps by that time the turnover was to the Sicilians? I just wish more information was available because what I have is conflicting. There is no mention in my 80s and 90s FBI files that Chicago was running things but it alludes to each city partnering with each other on some gambling ventures.PolackTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 6:13 pmGreat info. Not familiar with this Richie Weber either. Given that you've alluded to D'Amico having some operations in Rockford in the past, I've wondered if this was related to the apparent ties he had with the Frank Rappa drug operation and the zip faction or whatever it was working with or under Chicago. With the drug info, my suspicion increases that these things were linked. The mid-80s was of course around the time that this mysterious "Operation Colossus" partnership between city and suburban LE claimed that Sicilian/Italian nationals were moving drugs with the Outfit.cavita wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 5:38 pm I was given some information year ago on Rockford’s connection to the Chicago Outfit and I’ll share it here- a reporter I was acquainted with had cause on April 25, 2005 to interview Chicago attorney-turned informant Robert Cooley regarding Rockford.
Cooley stated that under John DiFronzo, Marco D’Amico had a major crew working in Rockford and they had some illegal gambling interests and strip clubs there but he said it was a part of the territory belonging to Sal DeLaurentis. He said in 1993 the FBI had a report where they were naming a number of people from organized crime that were operating in the Rockford area under the Elmwood Park crew.
*The only 1993 FBI report I could think of was the March 29, 1993 report that outlined “the Rockford Sicilian/LCN Faction (which) was formerly a strong faction of the Chicago LCN. Currently, the group is believed to have a stronger Sicilian Mafia base with many of the individuals who operate in Rockford having ties to the Agrigento Province of Sicily.” Nowhere in this report does it mention the Elmwood Park Crew, however.
He stated that Frank “Gumba” Saladino worked under Marco but did more killing under the Southside/Chinatown Crew.
Cooley said they raided some illegal casino in Rockford about 1975-1976 and he represented the people on that and it was one of Marco’s crews running it. One of the people he said was arrested was Sal DeLaurentis. *Now, I couldn’t find any reference to an illegal casino raid for those years but I know on March 10, 1979 there was a gambling raid at the Mark II Restaurant and Lounge where 275-300 people were present though only seven were actually arrested.
*Also, on November 1, 1979 the Star Zenith Boat Club in Beloit, Wisconsin was raided and thousands of dollars in cash as well as professional gambling equipment was confiscated. Seventy-five people were arrested and many prominent local citizens were among those arrested.
Cooley also made mention of a something that I will quote directly from the reporter’s notes:
“One of my clients, one of my bookmakers, back when I was there, we’re talking about 1980, it was about 85 was arrest, when they came, I knew Richie Weber and his crew when it to raid the house, on a, looking to make a gambling bust and they found like 12 kilos of cocaine in there. He was actually distributing cocaine. He was one of the direct people working under Marco. He was paying Marco street tax on the bookmaking but he was also paying street tax it turns out on the narcotics trafficking he was doing.” *Now, who is this Richie Weber? I’ve never heard of him-

For what it's worth, I've had some private correspondence in the past with an individual who said there was "no way" D'Amico was involved in drugs. If true, maybe Weber was running the coke on the side out of the bookie joint?cavita wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 6:49 amWell I just don't know. Louie Rainone was an Outlaw - the biker gang. So was his co-defendent in that murder a chekylslavakian guy - who ironically was arrested at the old Brixie's in Brookfield a few years ago for instigating a bar fight. I wonder if Guarino is related to Pop or Papa Guarino who was a bookie in Cicero around Sportsman's Park with Tony Zizzo's crew.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:22 amI think it would be correct to say that the current Outfit is being run by former members of Chicago street gangs, 12th st players from Cicero and the C-Notes from the patch in Chicago. Wow, interesting stuff all over here. When you start digging deep the outfit is a bit more widespread than most believe in these old strongholds. While we often picture the modern day outfit as being a bunch of older guys who mostly do semi legal work, this discussion further proves that there are still many street connections. Same as five or six years ago when everyone was shocked that grand Avenue was actively robbing drug stash houses
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
This also lends credence to the picture that my grandfather paints. Older guys in the background financing and profiting from street level activities while appearing as legitimate businessman

The wiretaps of Carperelli are great to listen to - what a Tommy Pitera type voice too - I'd love to know all these 'spots' he is talking about getting and to Snakes point, whether he's really anything more than a collector. I believe Paulie's uncle was George Vertucci of Fifi Buccieri's crew right?
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Carparelli just comes across as a blowhard to me. Then again, Frank Calabrese also did, but he was definitely not someone I'd cross.SolarSolano wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:51 am The wiretaps of Carperelli are great to listen to - what a Tommy Pitera type voice too - I'd love to know all these 'spots' he is talking about getting and to Snakes point, whether he's really anything more than a collector. The store was used as a fencing operation and basically the Cicero crews HQ. It’s now in the hands of Louis Rainone who is obviously connected with the outfit even though the feds or anyone else have ever identified him. I think the info you got is outstanding and thanks for sharingAntiliar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 10:37 pm Someone who shall remain anonymous shared some info with me. I can't vouch for any of it, and I won't get into how he knows this. Anyways, I thought I would share the info with the group.
In 2020 a guy named Bobby English (no relation - as far as he knows - to Chuckie English) was killed for the same reason.
