Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
On Twitter, Anna Sergi drew attention to an article written by Italian reporter Alessandro Boldrini that was published online yesterday. The article mentions a forthcoming paper by her on a similar (same?) subject.
Contrary to what Domenico Violi told undercover police agent Vincenzo Morena in September 2016 about the situation in Montreal being stable, we now know that this was far from reality. I've always wondered why so many GTA-based reporters covering Violi's trial at the time mentioned in their reporting that Violi and brother Joe were boastful. Since then, I've come to understand why.

Is this John Costa related to the old Giovanni Costa murdered by Rumbo in 1991 as payback from Commisso to the costas in Siderno?antimafia wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 1:20 amOPP sets $50,000 reward in murder probeantimafia wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:52 pm My hunch might be wrong, but I think that the murder of Joey Catroppa in Cancun last September, the attempted murder of Michael Costa just north of Toronto last November, and the murder of Costa's father John back in January (case of mistaken identity? collateral damage?) are manifestations of whatever mob war is being fought in Ontario.

One of the great problems of some reporters is that they don’t realise that what mafiosi say is just their narrative/opinion, just like everyone else, and not the truth. Same with the way Violi speaks…antimafia wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 12:02 pm On Twitter, Anna Sergi drew attention to an article written by Italian reporter Alessandro Boldrini that was published online yesterday. So the way Violi spoke was an opinion and not the truth. He was lying to another made member if the Mafia. What would be the penalty for something like that?

It was his opinion or take that the groups were working together and old divisions gone. This may have been true on the surface when he said it… but we know from what has happened it was not completely true, perhaps not really at all.Newyorkempire wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:22 pm So the way Violi spoke was an opinion and not the truth. Is it believed that it was his opinion or the truth that he is the underboss? If so, what is the punishment if just his opinion?NickleCity wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:58 pmIt was his opinion or take that the groups were working together and old divisions gone. A very good question, and I don't know the answer. I'm regularly working on family trees for organized-crime figures but I haven't gotten around to a tree for the Costas in the GTA.calabrianwatch wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:26 pmIs this John Costa related to the old Giovanni Costa murdered by Rumbo in 1991 as payback from Commisso to the costas in Siderno?antimafia wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 1:20 amOPP sets $50,000 reward in murder probeantimafia wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:52 pm My hunch might be wrong, but I think that the murder of Joey Catroppa in Cancun last September, the attempted murder of Michael Costa just north of Toronto last November, and the murder of Costa's father John back in January (case of mistaken identity? collateral damage?) are manifestations of whatever mob war is being fought in Ontario.

I used to think that certain surnames were so common -- especially Calabrian and Sicilian surnames -- that if there was a recent murder victim or attempted-murder victim who had the same last name as an earlier organized-crime figure, that there was probably no connection. Then when someone on Twitter pointed out that the Domenico Triumbari who was killed in March 2017 in Woodbridge (Vaughan) was very likely related to the Siderno Group's camera di controllo member Salvatore Triumbari who was killed in Toronto in early 1967, I started paying attention -- especially because Salvatore's beverage-and-bottling company appeared to continue its operations in one form or another for another 50 years and is still operating to this day. Incidentally, the Triumbari Corporation of which Domenico was the principal is located in Bolton, in Caledon, Ontario, which is where the Costa residence is situated.

Interesting...thanks Antimafia. the Costa surname is very popular, so there might or might not be a relation there...but the family first names are also important, so I just wondered...

Agreed. I should have mentioned in my previous post that both Costas who were murdered also had the same first name: Giovanni.

This article about a cold-case murder also has information about two sons of the murdered Giovanni Costa: the son who has been targeted for murder; and the son who has worked as a Toronto Police Service constable.
