Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
Re. Paul George Sanfilippo, the name and DOB matches a Brooklyn born man whose parents are Giuseppe Sanfilippo, of Santa Margherita di Belice in Agrigento and Jennie Abrams who is a Wasp whose family dates back to NY in the 1700's.
Paul George doesn't look the part, but his dad does. I reckon Giuseppe Sanfilippo could have potentially been an earlier member.
Giuseppe Sanfilippo was born 1894/1/30 to Paolo Sanfilippo and Calogera Bongiovi, both of Sciacca.

LCNBios did a write up on Paul. He says an informant told the FBI that his father was a 'Consulieri of Judgement'.
Here's the writeup for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
Nailed it. I make accurate guesses every so often. Thanks for confirming and sharing more info. It's all new to me.
Interesting bio:
"Con... of judgement," aside from Consig, my mind also jumps to the position of sostituito that Gentile held under Mangano.
Interesting bio:
Original Mafia group.. I could use this as further confirmation that the Gams were NYs premiere family but something tells me this falls under the "first family started by Agrigento members."His father, a shoemaker from Sciacca in Agrigento, was also a made member with the Gambinos. Many years later an FBI CI reported the following: "[Paul SanFilippo] is the son of an old Italian don of the original Mafia group in the US and a 'Consulieri of Judgement' and was considered to be a very fair and honorable man." Wording suggests the elder SanFilippo may have held an administrative spot at one point, or was at least a member of some influence.
Paul grew up in the neighborhoods of Bath Beach and New Utrecht, and by the 1940s operated Whitey's Cafe at 1183 49th St in Borough Park. This business would last until shortly before his father's death in 1960.
On August 27, 1955 his sister Lillian married Mario 'Red' Traina in Bensonhurst. A Gambino Soldier and son to Captain Giuseppe Traina, Mario sponsored his brother-in-law for membership into the Gambino Family around the same year.

Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
"Jerome Rego"
Looking up the Sedottos, Michael was born to Antonio Sedotto and Filomena Squillante of Salerno. Filomena is the daughter of a Nunzio Squillante and a Mary Rega. This Nunzio was born in 1851 hence too old to be the same Gambino member who shares his name, but both came from Salerno so likely a relation.
Anyways, there was a Gerardo "Jerry" Rega born in 1918 to Ettore Rega and Rosina Niosi (da Napoli) who was murdered in 1954. Could this be a match?

Are Santo Sorge and Peter Sorge related? I found a Santo from Mussomeli which matches the dob however the only match I'm seeing for a Peter came from Bagheria-
Update- Nevermind, hes in the FBN book-
SORCE Peter 7/23/1911 Palermo Francesco Maria Lavantino
Sorge/Sorci Santo 1/11/1908 Mussomeli Salvatore Rosina Gange

James Surrosco/Surroco, died in 1967... There was a James Surrosco born in NY 1914/7/4 and died in 1967/10/15 to Giacomo Surrusco of Canicatti and Rosalia Corsitto of Campobello Di Licata. Could this be him?

Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
- I wonder if Anthony Vanella was related to Rocco Vanella, the close friend of John Torrio
- Anthony Michael Zappi, son of Ettore Zappi or a brother?
- Although Ciro Terranova had a son named Benny, I think this one was from a different family

In the 1920 census he was living with his parents at 22 Market St on the LES, lived next to a Tony Barca (surname rings out to me from somewhere, Gen?). From 1925 up until the 1940 census his family shows up on West 9th in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 12:05 pmIt could definitely be a match. Re: Gambino 1960's Chart (in progress)
That puts things at around 290 soldiers (including those with asterisks) which is far more than I expected we'd have. I think I'll separate the confirmed from those with asterisks because we're close to their cap. In 2000 the Gams had a cap of 270, in 40 years between informants and members being killed, their cap was likely reduced over time. I'd guesstimate in the 1960s they would be at 300-320 but disagreements/arguments are welcome.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 12:09 pm T-Z

We still need to go over who was where. I dont even know where to start with that. If joe schmo is with a brooklyn crew but was born in the city and now lives in staten I'd be inclined to label him Brooklyn. Unfortunately that info cant be found on ancestry and familysearch.
I'll go through the list of names and try to ascertain where they all lived by 1940, compile a list and then you can scroll over and correct whatever jumps out at you. Does that work? It's the holidays so it can wait, have fun.

For Surrosco, born and worked in the city but lived in Brooklyn. One of his accomplices was a Frank D'Angelo as per the Sing Sing record:
