Here’s the topic Antiliar posted on the 1940s “Cheese War” also:

There are many other topics worth reviewing in detail here regarding Chicago, as well as tons of stuff regarding some of these questions in other families (the nature and dynamics of the US mafia in the 1920s, the early induction of mainland Italians, etc).

Not a member, of course, but Ronald William "Ronnie" Jarrett was born 1944 in Chicago to Roy Jarrett and Catherine Bonomo. Catherine was born 1919 in Chicago to Sigismondo "Joe" Bonomo and Concetta Scornavacca/Scornavacche of Nicosia, Enna. Goes to show how an associate with a non-Italian surname can be just as "Italian" as anyone else, given that Jarrett was raised in Bridgeport in close proximity to his grandparents and other relatives from Sicily.

Louis T. Marino was born 1933 in Chicago to Pietro "Peter" Marino and Pauline Castiglia. Pietro was born 1910 in Chicago to Luigi Marino and Giuseppina Elia of Cosenza province, Calabria. Pauline was born 1913 in Chicago to Rosolino Castiglia and Paolina de Paolo of Campofelice di Roccella, Palermo province. As a kid, Louis grrew up on the same block of W Grenshaw between Western and Campbell where is his mother grew up, to the west of the Tayor St "Patch". The building, 2422 W Grenshaw is pictured below (the one the right with the odd porch in place of the original stoop):

Salvatore DeLaurentis was born 1938 in Chicago to Jerry (probably Gennaro originally) De Laurentis Sr, born in Acerra, Napoli, and Victora Moccio, born in Chicago to a family from Bracigliano, Salerno province, and Rende, Cosenza province. Jerry Sr's father Salvatore "Frank" De Laurentis was murdered in Chicago by a shotgun blast in 1924. This was likely the same "Frank" De Laurentis that the Tribune alleged was a Genna affiliate (though the Tribune has him as murdered in 1925, while his death certificate was for 11/1924). See photo posted to Mugshots.
While Solly was a young child, the family still resided at Taylor and Lytle in the Taylor St "Patch" (the building was later torn down for the construction of the ABLA projects, which have themselves since been demolished). The family subsequently decamped for the northern suburbs. In 1960, Jerry Sr and sons Solly and Jerry Jr opened 3D Bowl (named for the three DeLaurentis men), a bowling alley/pizzeria/bar, in Island Lake. 3D Bowl is still owned and operated by the DeLaurentis family.

Thanks! That makes perfect sense of course, given the Taylor St/Napolitan' mob connections. Brusciano and Acerra are right next to each other.

Jasper Campise was born 1916 to Gaspano "Jasper" Campisi and Vincenza Bella, of Sambuca di Sicilia (Sambuca Zabut), Agrigento. There are documents stating that he was born in Kansas City or Chicago, variously. The family lived in Kansas City in 1910, where some older siblings were born, and sometime around 1920, they had moved to Chicago, where they settled in the Near Northside Little Sicily community. While I haven't been able to confirm a birth record for him (likely due to misspelling of the surname) his WW2 draft registration states that he was born in KC.

Campise stated to the FBI that he was born in Kansas City. The FBI has his date of birth as 15 March 1915.PolackTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:20 pm Jasper Campise was born 1916 to Gaspano "Jasper" Campisi and Vincenza Bella, of Sambuca di Sicilia (Sambuca Zabut), Agrigento. Re: Chicago Outfit Places of Origin
Thanks. There may have been two Jasper Campises in Chicago — records for a Jasper Joseph and a Jasper George — with birthdates in 1915 and 1916. There seems to have been another Jasper Campise who died later, after Jay Campise, who may have been born 1915. The FBI may have confused the records. Jay Campise also may have used different dates or middle names in different records. His WW2 draft record and SSDI for his death both state that he was born in 1916.Snakes wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:41 pmCampise stated to the FBI that he was born in Kansas City. The FBI also has his father's name as Anthony but I don't know how accurate that is.PolackTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 3:04 pmThanks.
