On that Podcast that Ezra Honig does - the Murray Richmond inteview (probably the best, or second best episode), Richmond says that Carmine was one of his first 'big' clients and talks about him a little. He doesn't talk too much about him but it's still the most I've ever heard about the guy, ever. He really does resemble Jonathan Winters and Mr. Gribbs is a cool nickname. I think the Luccheses from that era is probably the most interesting family and point-in-time of LCN for me. I feel like they were thriving then. Genovese were dealing with lots of changes and almost chaos, the Gambinos were sexual degenerates in Brooklyn... the Luccheses for that period of time from Appalachin to the late 70s were ridiculously strong

Wasn't the working theory that Tommy Lucchese had hand picked Corallo to eventually succeed him, pre-planned, but when it actually came time for it, Corallo was locked up and fighting a big case? Tramunti was put in there as a place holder until Corallo was ready?

If that's actually true, not that it really matters, but was Tramunti ever an Official Boss? Wouldn't this be technically an Acting Boss role?

Again, that point in time is the most interesting for me out of any other point in time for LCN. Seems like there were a dozen viable, respected and powerful candidates that could have succeeded Lucchese himself as Boss, even if it were just temporary until Corallo was ready - there were so many titans of industry in that family back in the day - so they must have had good reasoning for using Tramunti in that capacity.

I gotta brush up on the Lucchese crew succession and what actually went on, but I remember reading somewhere that before Tramunti was in as Boss or Acting Boss, there was a panel running things shortly after Lucchese's death and Paul Vario was a member of it. Anyone ever hear this before?

Originally from East Harlem, later moved to Whitestone, Queens.

Tramunti:

- indicted June 1969 for contempt.
- found guilty in Sep 1969, sentenced to a year in prison.
- indicted Nov 1970 on charges of stock fraud.
- Dec 1971, Tramunti acquitted of fraud charges.
- Oct 1972, handed a subpoena apearance.
- Nov 1972, indicted on a charge of criminal contempt for allegedly making evasive answers to a grand jury.
- Sentenced in Aug 1973 to three years imprisonment for criminal contempt.
- While in prison, Tramunti was one of 43 people Indicted in Oct 1973 on narcotics charges. Three of the others were Gigi Inglese, Jerry Zanfardino and Joseph DiNapoli. According to a trial witness, Tramunti nodded his head when Inglese discussed narcotics transactions.
- March 1974, Tramunti convicted. In May, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
- In 1976, authorities said that Tramunti "is still the titular head of the Family, In his absence, the day to day family operations are run by Tony "Ducks" Corallo". And as seen in FBI reports, Tramunti is listed as the official boss.
- Oct 15 1978, Tramunti died in prison.

Tramunti may have very well been the official boss until he died. It´s kinda the same thing like with the Carlo Gambino situation where it was said for a very long time that Gambino had appointed Castellano the new boss on his death bed. This myth has been debunked. I don´t believe Tommy Lucchese appointed Corallo as his successor. Every boss has to be voted in. FBI listed Tramunti as the acting boss by 1969, but as the official boss a couple of years later.
