I wonder if there are any relations between these Panicos (Paniqi?). I note that there was a record for an Anthony Panico living in Antioch (where this Nicholas guy lived), which is of course in Lake County.

Given the name of the restaurant, the Panico name is almost certainly from Pomigliano D'Arco in Naples province (just outside of Naples proper and next to Acerra). There were Panicos who emigrated to Chicago from there. There were a bunch of Panicos around Taylor St, Melrose Park, Berwyn, which might explain why a Lake County guy was apparently involved with the Carlisi crew.

Nothing much else pointing to this Anthony Panico in the papers at least. In 1943, the Trib ID'd some kid named Sam Panico as part of a burglary ring operating on the Westside but makes no mention of "syndicate" ties:

Actually, one more. In 1938 the Trib mentioned that an Ambrose Russo alias Tony Panico was murdered apparently in connection to the "42 Gang":




Maybe Villain has come across some of these Panicos at some point? Seems possible at least that this guy Panico may have had some familial connection to the Outfit.

I saw these earlier and went through them. Disappointingly small amount of new information, to be honest. The most interesting thing to me was that it seemed to suggest (as most of us suspected) that DiFronzo took over Elmwood Park directly after Gagliano. I wasn't always sure if that was the case so it's nice to have some supporting documentation.
