I also enjoyed it but it was rushed and sloppy for much of it and really could've been awesome

Chase shouldn't have tried to force it into a two hour window.

The bones for greatness were there but the format killed it. Not horrible but not great either.

It wasn't a masterwork like the show, but as a long-time fan and someone who has been looking forward to this movie for a long time I was not disappointed. Solid 7/10

Yea it was basically the Dickie Moltisanti story , But the 1970s back drops were awesome

The ending was the biggest wtf moment to me. Like it’s even stupider than I imagined in my head

It wouldn't be the first time Chase compromised. The entire 6th season of the series was a result of that. Of course, people change with time and maybe he felt he had to change his approach for a movie. I'd be surprised if there's a sequel but we'll see.

I didn't know that. Was the 6th season supposed to be shorter? 6... instead of 6A and 6B? I remember reading that Chase wanted to end the series with Tony raking leaves in his yard and just looking up in the sky, essentially a scene from the last episode before they agreed on going to out to dinner. Chase was a guest on the Joey Diaz podcast this week, haven't listened yet. Maybe he'll shed light on the movie. I swear i remember recently reading that he wants to do a sequel if everybody else wants to as well

Chase's original plan was to do 5 seasons. But HBO threw enough money at him and everyone else that they did a 2 part-6th season. And, as has been discussed, it wasn't for the better.

I think we can see Tony's ascent into the mob.
The only thing I miss about this prequel is when Tony said Dickie Moltisanti went to war with the new england crew he brought the war up to them up there single handedly (when they were surveilling that cops retirement party) of course Tony could of been bullshiting chris then...

Yeah they should have ended the show with season 5. That last episode of season 5 was how I think chase wanted the show to end with Tony back with his family and having evaded the FBI and any fallout from New York.

Yeah. This guy Harold killed a member of the DiMeo crime family and tried to kill Dickie Moltisanti and Jonny Boy Soprano, yet he gets away (even when they know where he's staying)? Back in the 1970's, come on. Also that scene with Frank Lucas was kinda ridiculous and cringey. That scene was like from some Italian Mafia vs Black drug lords direct to video low budget action movie.

It's about as accurate as Godfather of Harlem. I thought it was stupid.
