A large portion of high grade olive oil / balsamic from Italy is fake with huge margins. Having someone like Cali who could get these huge mark up items in USA stores is invaluable. Funny how the mob evolved from heroin to grapes but business wise it’s just brilliant

I don’t know what Cali did but Italian clan sell fake high end olive oil to the USA as a racket . Given Cali produce store, you would have to think he would be an important piece to push this product

There was a big operation in 2017 called Operation Provvidenza, where they intercepted fake olive oil produced in Calabria and sent to the USA through the clan Piromalli of the ndrangheta through a guy named Rosario Vizzari who was president of the Global Freight Services in NJ (and also through other companies in NJ) together with an American guy who acted as broker for Costco and Walmart!
