Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
Quick question about this....was there a difference between the Fatico/Gotti/Bergen Crew and the crew Ruggiano was associated with? Was he part of Fatico crew at one point? Were he and Fatico and/or Gotti capos at same time of separate crews? They were all originally from East New York....Just trying to figure out where they fell into in terms of Gambino hierarchy during 70s abd 80s before Ruggiano went away. They seem to have been closely associated but not clear on the details.

Gotti took over the Fatico crew of which he and Fat Andy were a part of at the time. I’m not sure Andy was ever a captain?

Ruggiano was part of Fatico´s crew once but broke away with Corozzo, Lenny DiMaria and a few others, Off the top of my head, I can´t recall which captain they were put under. Ruggiano was never a captain.vmw100475 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 8:51 am Quick question about this....was there a difference between the Fatico/Gotti/Bergen Crew and the crew Ruggiano was associated with? Sure he wasnt a capo? I thought he was talked about on castellanos house bug. About how he would surport him on the run in florida. That would mean all those guys were under gotti? I thought fat andy proposed john because neil proposed nick c or something

From LCN Bios:
When the books opened Nicholas Corozzo's sponsor, Anthony 'Fat Andy' Ruggiano, initially refused to put up any of his crew. It was later decided that only Corozzo, his favored associate, would be proposed. Around this time Ruggiano, a Soldier under Carmine Fatico, had volunteered Corozzo and fellow Ruggiano crew member Leonard DiMaria to 'do work' for Fatico and others.
After Gene Gotti's induction Ruggiano brought an unspecified complaint to Underboss Aniello Dellacroce. Full details aren't given but the implication is Ruggiano was offended that Gotti had been made before his own candidate. Soon after Dellacroce informed Ruggiano that Corozzo was set to be inducted and, furthermore, Dellacroce himself would sponsor Leonard DiMaria as a 'gift' to Ruggiano.

Ruggiano´s son testified in court that his father was never a captain.

Re: Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
If Ruggiano wasn't a captain doesn't that kind of fly in the face of everything Joe Iannuzzi said in his book "Joe Dogs"? I thought he was very clear repeatedly that Ruggiano was a captain in the early 80s. Doesn't mean he wasn't wrong but I thought he was pretty clear on that.
Re: Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
He's one of the most powerful soldiers ever, staluppi and the other guy, That huge numbers kingpin for the Genovese jimmy Napoli was only a soldier i think but what do I know?

Re: Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
Joe Dogs had to sell some books! He's was Alite before Alite came on the scene. I did enjoy his book.Adam wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 6:37 am If Ruggiano wasn't a captain doesn't that kind of fly in the face of everything Joe Iannuzzi said in his book "Joe Dogs"? Napoli became a captain, if I'm not mistaken.
All roads lead to New York.

Re: Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
Staluppi is/was powerful? He was a piggy bank and nothing more. If I was comparing Ruggiano to anyone it would be Bruno Facciolo. Both tremendous earners and super charismatic they drew all sorts of criminals into their orbits from stickup guys to scammers to bookies and loan sharks. They amassed loyal from many many non made guys and had huge crews as soldiers.
Staluppi is just a mega rich guy who bought a button and probably kicks up 50k a month just to stay in good standing. He is in no way equivocal to Ruggiano or Facciolo for that matter.
Re: Bergen Crew/Ruggiano Crew
He shoudl tell them "I'm out" give them 500K and then use 50K per month for a former navy seal to protect him- not like they would do anything anyway
