It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Re: Carmine Galante
He was born in East Harlem in 1910, but later that same year the family was living on Stanton St on the LES. By 1930 they had moved back up to 101st by 2nd Ave in East Harlem. Around 1935 the family moved to New Lots Ave in East New York, BK.

Re: Carmine Galante
Did the Commission sanction his hit and for what reason?
Re: Carmine Galante
No phil rastelli was the official boss of the family since 1973. He choose to put Galante in as acting boss. They were both on the street in late 74 75. Rust goes to jail leaving galante in charge and heet it go to his head. Hes in charge of inducting new memebers into the bonanno family probaly like 80 guys in 1 years. 76 77. Then he violatea parole is locked up from nov 1977 toll summer 1979 and the hitters get him soon as he waa released
Re: Carmine Galante
Think its overlooked galante had to go see rastelli when he gets out of jail in 1974 to see where he stands in the family is he even a capo anymore. Rusty isnt found guilty and jailed to 1976. That was more then anuff time for Galante to make some mkves back on the street.

Re: Carmine Galante
They were in disarray for years - still a profitable and formidable criminal enterprise, without a doubt, but a factionalized mess. There has to be conflict and disorder within the ranks for a hit like that to happen. It created more problems than it solved for the Bonnanos, as history illustrates.
Galante left his rivals and the Commission with no choice. Sharing power? No way, considering the people involved. Sharing power, at best, only postpones inevitable turmoil.
Re: Carmine Galante
Killing those 3 powerhouse capos also really weakend the bonannos. Think of all the rackets they lost when those 3 died. Any other family they did business with probaly just absorbed the whole thing
Re: Carmine Galante
Couldnt agree more pmac when you look at all the peope they killed Galante the three capos bonventre george etc and these were all big players.
