Buffalo '76. The 4 implicated guys who tried to kill Faust Novino but he ended up escaping from all of them. No one could shoot straight.

Not made at the time but John Veasey and Phil Colletti used a car that they rented under their own name to do the drive by shooting of Merlino and Mike Ciancalgini. Then they abandon the car and torch it but stupid Vessey sticks his hand in to grab some loose change and gets his hand all burned up. Then they report the car as stolen and Veasey goes home and burns his hand again over his grill where the neighbors could see to explain away his burned hand. Veasey would like steer be made.

We can also include the entire Colombo leadership in the early 1980s. The Feds bugged the restaurant where they held their meetings. The wiseguys find the bug but keep meeting in the same restaurant so the Feds just go back in and bug it again and get them all on tape.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

 it seems a similar situation occurred during the St Valentines Day massacre.

Tony Capezio, Joseph Lolordo and Raymond Schulte formed the so-called cleanup crew and their job was to get rid of the cars which were used in the plot. First they dynamited one of the cars in west suburban Maywood, the area where Claude Maddox and his family lived at the time.

Than they came back to the garage at 1723 North Wood St., to demolish the second getaway car (the phoney police black Cadillac) with acetylene torch, axes and hacksaws. But Capezio made a mistake that nearly cost his life. While he was cutting through the gas tank with the acetylene torch, a fire broke out and blew him to the ceiling, knocking him unconscious. The reason was that he FORGOT to empty the gas tank  it was like using a lighter to see if theres any fuel left in the gas tank

Capezio burned his arms and hands quite badly, and so Schulte and Lolordo took him to the North Avenue clinic, but when they arrived there they suddenly ran back out because they realized that someone might’ve heard the blast and would be calling the cops.

This stunt earned Capezio’s nickname “Tough Tony.” Several years later bank robber Alvin Karpis, who was a close friend of Capezio's, confirmed this story.
