So research has been a little boring lately....
Can we get a list of all mafia wars OUTSIDE NYC??
- Rochester wars (ABC War)
- Merlino vs Stanfa
- Buffalo (???)
- Detroit catalonette vs Vitale 1920s wars
I know I'm missing a few ...

Amazing there was the ABC war in Rochester. Just the right storm and ambition by odd sets of factions in a specifically rare era in my opinion.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 6:10 pm So research has been a little boring lately....

Nothing really for Buffalo. Even during the end years for Maggadino no one really came at him strong after the dissidence started within the different crews. He died not too long after the rumblings started and he was accused of hoarding profits.
What about Trafficante Sr.? He was rank under the existing regime and then starting killing everyone to gain the top spot in Tampa

Being a Small Town guy myself I'm not sure what a Big Town Mafia War is. Does the Cleveland/Pittsburgh War over Youngstown count?

Wait — “small town”, or just not NYC? I wouldn’t describe Detroit and Philly as “small towns”….JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 6:10 pm So research has been a little boring lately....

If it’s the latter, then the 1940s conflict in Chicago that Antiliar has dubbed the “Cheese War”. This was an apparent revolt by a Sicilian dissident faction affiliated with the Northside crew to oust the newly installed boss Accardo, probably aiming to replace him with Vincenzo “the Don” Benevento, the alleged ringleader of the plot. After the plot was betrayed to the Outfit admin by Ross Prio and the “three Doms” (who remained loyal to the official leadership), a number of mostly Sicilian Outfit guys were murdered. Northside capo Jim DeGeorge was shelved and retired to a cattle ranch in WI while Prio was bumped up to Northside capo. The “Cheese War” moniker is due to control over the Grande Cheese company in WI as one of the motivating factors for the rebellion. Prio also assumed control of the company after the “war”, but later in the 50s Joe Bonnano managed to install John DiBella as president.

Cleveland in the 70s vs Danny Green.
I think there may have been one in KC also in the late 70s, but I don’t know their history too well.
There was also St Louis in the late 70s/early 80s that is completely nuts. I’ve been meaning to do a write-up on it, but it’s a really long story and I haven’t had the time.

Re: SMALL TOWN MAFIA WARS
the gang war in Boston where 60 men died during the sixties. I think that the Patriarca crime family was responsible for some of the bloodshed during that time.
Here is an article about it below.

Re: SMALL TOWN MAFIA WARS
I wouldn't call Joey and Lenny really being at war, more like two bosses in the same small town, never a good thing.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 12:58 amThis is one that I know next to nothing about. The real "war" was between Cleveland and Pittsburgh starting with Cleveland clipping/bombing the Naples family and some of their constituents and finally ending with Charlie Carabbia disappearing, for good
