Was John Pennisi under Joe DiBenedetto or Joe Perna before he got made?

When did DiBenedetto become a captain?

He isn't. DiBenedetto was a member of Castelucci's crew, so when Pennisi was made we was put under Castelucci as well

So Bonanno set up his own kidnapping? I hadn't heard that before. I knew the feds were looking for him. Bill didn't mention that in his book, makes me suspect everything else he wrote.

It's like many books written by mafiosi - you have to read it with a grain of salt. Below is Capeci's summation of the Bonannos, including his analysis of Bonanno's kidnapping claim.

Interesting...I spent 2 hours bullshitting with Bill Bonanno in a bar in Ca. and my impression of him was he was crazy as a bedbug (Sam Decavalcante) and not too bright.

Do each family have their particular niche or quirks? I remember reading that the lucchese used to be big in the clothing industry. The colombos for their wars, Genovese for their secrecy, etc.

As I was walking past a group of them I gave them my standard "sorry for your loss" and they stopped talking and grilled me lol.
