Not many info about NY mafia, just the trip of Ernie Grillo who was very close to Frank Calì and now is part of the sicilian decina.
Current Torretta family situation:
Boss: Raffaele Di Maggio
Underboss: Ignazio Antonio Mannino (once involved in Iron Tower II operation, lived in Pennsylvania)
Consigliere: Simone Zito (native of NY, lived there many years)
Couple questions...
This is the same Calogero who rigged the election in Sicily from Philly? For the Gambino kid?
These are the same guys, Zito and Mannino from your previous post, that were challenging John Gambino? Who is Domenico Mannino to Calogero?
Is this the same group originally under Francesco Gambino?

Salvatore Badalamenti had to pay tribute to Calì that's why Brusca scolded him. he was just a "paesano" ", not made.B. wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 5:26 am Here is an old post by Toto. Did you ever see anything from this investigation, Felice? Thanks.
Seems Salvatore Badalamenti could be a relative of the Giovanbattista you mentioned and they both could be Gambino members.toto wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2016 3:39 pm A DDA investigation found Vincenzo Brusca ex-boss Torretta visited a few times New York. His cousin is Santo Zito (Fat guy walking with Frank Cali and Pietro Inzerillo in one photo). Vincenzo was trying to invest in real estate in Brooklyn and caught talking to Salvatore Badalamenti considered a member of a New York family who can settle disputes between Americans. Salvatore is a man of Brooklyn and involved in construction.
I guess this means Salvatore Badalamenti is a Gambino member. Did this name come in any investigation in America?
GiovanBattista and Salvatore are very distant cousin. No relationship
Re: New arrests in Torretta
well, according to some sources looks like this Sylvester Davì is basically the sicilians street boss of the Gambino family. His father Calogero is a Lucchese family captain

If Paolo LoDuca is really dead then maybe this Calogero Davì was promoted to replace him as the go-between for the Luccheses and the Gambinos

Re: New arrests in Torretta
I believe Felice is saying Silvestro Davi is a made member of the Gambino family who carries out "street boss" type duties for the Sicilian faction under the Gambino family (which probably includes made members of both the Gambino and the Sicilian mafia).
Remember in Donnie Brasco, Lefty tells Pistone Sal Catalano has been made "street boss" of the Bonanno Sicilian faction; this included made members of the Bonanno as well as Sicilian mafia members working under them in the US. We have seen the same protocol play out in Philadelphia/South Jerey and Montreal in the past.
The term "street boss" is one of the most heavily misinterpreted terms but it can just be someone who is a liaison between factions or different levels of leadership. It doesn't necessarily mean someone has formal authority over the family. Maybe Felice can clarify how Davi's duties are described but it doesn't necessarily make him an admin member.

Here's the issue. That's Joe Lannis job, no?
I wasnt taking Davi for an admin member. Is he Gambino or Torreta is my question....
Did they replace him? Lanni I mean...
Also, we got something good to ask Pennisi. Has he ever heard of a Luchesse capo named Davi, he knew of LoDuca so........
Re: New arrests in Torretta
Felice said at the start Davi is apparently a Gambino member from Torretta.
Yeah, I wonder what Pennisi thinks. He said he knew very little about that part of the family except his random meeting with LoDuca but something could jog his memory. He did tell a story he heard from Pete Inzerillo where Inzerillo visited Sicily and his uncle introduced him to the boss of a village. The boss was working with manure outside and had a hard time believing John Gotti had been a real boss. Sounds like Inzerillo was introduced to the Sicilian boss as "amico nostra" given they were talking about bosses -- of course, this is Pennisi recalling someone else's story years later.
I don't think "street boss" is that rigid. It's an unofficial position and if Mannino is the power in the family and uses Lanni to send messages and represent him, Lanni is essentially "street boss". If the leadership uses Davi as a liaison or messenger with other elements of the Sicilian faction, or to carry out other duties, he could be a "street boss" too. A street boss is a representative and it could be anyone from a soldier to the underboss or acting boss.
I don't know the details about Lanni and Davi's roles, so not commenting on those, but the protocol stays very consistent in the mafia and speaking of Pennisi he has been hammering that home lately.

Re: New arrests in Torretta
Sounds similar to Nick Gentile representing the Agrigento faction. Technically he was a soldier at that point, but in a sense he would have been over the Agrigenti capidecina. At least Catalano was a captain in the Bonanno Family. On the other hand, when Vito Genovese was in prison his brother Michael was a messenger passing along information to guys like Catena and Eboli, but he was never considered a street boss. So whatever a street boss is, there's a lot of flexibility to it.B. wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:04 pm I believe Felice is saying Silvestro Davi is a made member of the Gambino family who carries out "street boss" type duties for the Sicilian faction under the Gambino family (which probably includes made members of both the Gambino and the Sicilian mafia).

Re: New arrests in Torretta
Great example with Gentile. His role was very much like a street boss over the Agrigentini crews and he even called himself the "sostituto" (a term roughly equivalent to acting boss) but on a chart you wouldn't put him directly under Mangano like he's street boss of the entire family.
Another soldier example might be Joel Cacace. There was a time in the late 1980s that he was a soldier direct w/ the admin but more like a street boss representing the admin, helping run the family, and carrying messages.
The Bonannos' "top/senior captain" role (described by multiple sources 1950s-1980s) seems to have been essentially a street boss, too.
