Wow. It's really the only other thing on par with the Godfather movies, Goodfellas and Casino.
It's because it's a TV show and I don't have the attention span to invest in something that's like 100 hours long total. So I never watch TV. I never read novels either. Last TV show ever watched was Law & Order when Orbach was on. I prefer the little self-contained stories you get in movies. But I might make an exception for The Sopranos.
Sopranos set the tone for cinematic quality tv shows. Back when it aired it was like watching a movie every sunday. Can also say the same about the wire but only reason it didnt get that much popularity was because it aired the same time at the height of sopranos
I think The Wire is #2 right behind The Sopranos as the greatest TV series in my lifetime.

Right behind the wire is the shield but that's disputable. Some people would say breaking bad but I havent gotten into it. Though I was told without tony soprano there wouldn't be a Walter white
I never watched the Shield and couldn’t get into Breaking Bad when I tried watching it. I thought Deadwood was a great series, though it was cancelled early, and enjoyed Mad Men. I recently finished the fourth season of Gomorrah, which I loved. What a fuckin’ ride.
Yah I watched the first two seasons of gomorrah on Netflix but never got into 3rd season because they never added it idk about now. But it was intense the very first episode I was hooked

I never seen the wire. Is it worth getting into?

I think the trailer is good. I hope we see younger version of characters such as Bobby Baccalieri, Murf Lupo, Beppy Scerbo, DiMeo and other mentioned and seen characters.

The Americans is really underrated.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Seasons 3 and 4 are both on HBO Max, as they picked the series up from the Weinstein Co (whatever happened there…).

I noticed he doesn't seem to have a presence anywhere in the trailer. I'm assuming he's one of the older guys at Satriales. The relationship Tony has with Dickie Moltisanti is similar to the relationship he had with Christopher. Think most of the movie will be those two. I like Dickie's line where he tells Tony that if he tells himself he'll never steal again, it'll be easier. lol. These guys continue doing that the rest of their lives.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

I believe that people have floated the theory in the past that Tony was responsible for Dickie being killed. That he set him up with the cop who (allegedly) shot him carrying the TV stand (could just as easily been a crib). Should be interesting the way this is handled in the film, as Tony’s repressed and inchoate rage and resentment against his various father figures (Johnny, Junior, Hesh) is such an important them especially in the 6th season. The scene with Tony and Dickie in the trailer, with Tony saying he can’t get caught stealing as he wants to go to college, I think really works to underscore Tony’s future resentment against these authority figures who used him when he was a kid seeking love and acceptance. This of course also sets the stage for his later resentment of Chris, both as a proxy for Dickie as well as for reminding Tony of his own shame and failure as a surrogate father figure himself.

Agreed, as someone pointed out it's Bernthal, but might not be a huge part.

Who's Liotta? Old man DiMeo?

Looks like they captured the atmosphere perfectly. That's all I'm looking for with this movie... I just want to feel like I'm in that world again, everything else is secondary.

The Gandolfini kid's performance looks promising. That mannerism when his teacher talks to him in the hallway is 100% Tony and makes me appreciate everything James Gandolfini did to create this character. You can see how closely the son studied his father's acting. No matter how the rest of the movie is, this is the perfect tribute to James Gandolfini the man.

I’m starting to think we’re not getting a ton of Junior/Johnny boy in this....Seeing how Moltisanti literally translates to Many Saints and the fact that Liotta is playing “Hollywood Dick” Moltasanti not old man Dimeo I don’t think this movie will try to squeeze in every old character referenced in huge parts- i think it’s really gonna be about how the Moltasantis (specifically Dickie) shaped Tony.

Go back and watch any Sopranos season trailer, and you’ll see they typically give *very* little away in terms of plot points and details. Same with the little episode previews they would do at the very end of each episode. This trailer is the same. There are characters in the Saints of Newark trailer that will have extremely minor roles, and there are people that don’t even show up in the trailer that will play big roles. They only have a couple of characters listed on the IMDB page. Looks like Chase is keeping it pretty close to the vest.
