I’ve always wondered about this hit and since I can’t afford a gangland account I’ve been scrounging gangsterbb for some snippets.

So it looks like Meldish recieved a beating from some Bonnanos for dating Mancuso’s girlfriend outside Raos in NY and decides to do an unsanctioned hit on Enzo by using Caldwell? Then Caldwell botches the hit and Meldish gets cold feet and bails leavin Caldwell to run and get caught on surveillance

Do you guys think this played a part in Caldwell agreeing to shoot Meldish later on? Revenge for bailing on him on a hit He had told him to do? Do you guys think he had to make it right to LCN to hit Meldish since he hit a made guy without permission? From everything I’ve read Meldish seemed to be doing everything to get killed.


The Meldish hit is probably the most interesting think in Modern LCN for me because of how old school and retarded it was. I’m interested in any theories on this

Didn't it come out that Caldwell and Meldish were roommates at one point? I know Meldish lived in the Bronx but also kept an apartment in East Harlem, I think right on 2nd ave somewhere between 112th to 116th. Caldwell is a Harlem guy who was from Esplanade Gardens on the west side (those huge apartment towers that line Harlem River Drive when you're driving up to GW Bridge).

I forget who's testimony that came out in, but they were friends and lived together or something like that...

This Enzo guy - who was he under / around with the Bonnanos? I think he was Whitestone based. I'm speculating here and guessing just because of where he was based and what else was going on with the Bonnanos at the time...I'm thinking maybe he was shelved for siding with the losing side on the Cammerano / Palazzolo 'cold war' - not for admitting he was a Made Man.

We'd have to take both the NYPD and the NY Post at their word if we were to believe that he flat out told a police officer that he was a Made Man with the Bonnanos, something I have a hard time doing. The cops, feds, et. al, probably already had him pegged as a Soldier for a while...

Capeci said Stagno was shelved for telling the cops he was a Bonanno member but I believe Stagno was present at one of the Bonanno meetings in 2015. Maybe Joe C took him off then he was shelved again?

Read meldish and Caldwell were best friends. Meldish drove him to chemo daily. Him leaving him at the seen and probably lying about having the OK to shoot a made guy probably ruined it.

Meldish was big in the dope game .. or was… towards the end he didn’t seem to be earning to well cause he was driving like a rusted out 20 year old car that was all fucked up.. that’s what he got killed in… I heard both the meldish brothers weren’t very well liked but they were related to Prisco through marriage somehow… heard the meldish brothers were on some violent ass cowboy shit and a lot of people hated them .. I heard once Joe meldish went away for murders that Michael wasn’t as feared by himself….

Also looks like Catherine Narducci is friends with him via Instagram constantly commenting on his posts and especially those for Meldish. I also remember reading her father got killed in a mob related hit in 73 in Italian Harlem could be possible he was purple gang or associated?

Was just reading an article about Joseph meldishs sentencing… they were talking about how he assaulted someone for $350… and another time asked someone for $20 for a drug deal and the person refused, so meldish later burglarized his home… haha who the fuck is short/ or needs $20 for a deal??? Then when the guy was going to press charges about the burglary , meldish put on a ski masked and walked into a bar to kill the guy and I think he killed his brother instead on accident… think about that … commenting a homicide that started out over fucking $20????? Who would ever want to be around these fucks?? Unless the guy was buying a 20 sack for himself, which must have been the case..

I know it’s a little off topic.. but one thing I’ve noticed with this explosion of YouTube rats these days.. the one thing they love calling another one out about if they don’t like eachother, is calling them a junkie.. so to be honest I think that’s one thing that they literally ALL have in common… is that they all were/are junkies… and I don’t think it’s anything new.. I mean calandra was saying that Georgie conte turned them all onto Coke and how they would all do lines everytime they were at his house… so I’m sure all the made guys back in the 80s were all spun out Coke heads.. In 2011, Aiello and Spirito Jr. allegedly assaulted Meldish at a restaurant under orders from imprisoned Bonanno boss Michael (Mikey Nose) Mancuso for daring to fool around with Mancuso's girlfriend while he was cooling his heels behind bars for a murder conspiracy. That same year, Meldish retaliated with a baseball bat assault against another Bonanno mobster.

Two years later, according to sources and law enforcement reports, Meldish enlisted Caldwell to whack Stagno, apparently in retaliation for his troubles with Mancuso. The Baker was shot as he sat in a car parked in East Harlem, but survived the assault. (Caldwell is charged in the pending case with shooting Stagno on May 29, 2013.)
