Giuseppe Gambino
n. 20.1.1930, Palermo (di Angelo e Caterina Spina)
his father died in 1960, his brother Carlo in 1984, both died in Palermo. Most likely his grandfather was named Carlo Gambino.
He married a Spatola in 1970 even if I found a document about a Giuseppe Gambino marrying a Maria Inzerillo in 1970. He owned Romeo Cafè and Ristorante La Palma both based in Bronx.

Joe lived in Seaford Long Island and commuted every day to the Bronx. Was from the Borgo Nuovo area in Palermo, around Via Erice and Via Castellano. I would have sworn his wife was Italian-American, but could be wrong I guess. It was always explained to me that Joe was Carlo's nephew, and Salvatore Spatola was Joe's nephew. Maybe just loose terminology for "yeah, we're all related". That Spatola who was indicted for the pizza connection murder conspiracy was not the same Sal as the one from the Sinatra pic. I had heard when Joe died and the Albanian thing was raging, he took off to Palmermo, but I believe he's living in Westchester County now. He actually is the cousin of Rosario Spatola, purportedly one of the richest men in Italy who was on the lam in the US for quite a while. They eventually picked him up at a non-descript house in the Bronx off Pelham Parkway.
The old club on Crescent (Cafe Romeo) is long gone, so I don't know where Sal is hanging out if at all these days. He was never a huge earner or particularly motivated guy anyway.
