Taccetta went back because of what I described above. The entire case is completely convoluted and he shouldn't be sitting in jail right now - especially on a gambling and extortion charge.

He pled guilty to that recent RICO case for when he was out for a few yrs. He was holding court in some pizza place in Florham Park. I think he was going back Ralphs back to NY as well with Wayne Cross's kid if I remember correctly. I think they were meeting with DiNapoli. Marty has a cousin from the Bronx area as well . I think he might be an associate of the Lucchese family. I am not sure what they had on Marty for that Gambling case..From what I remember it had to do with Labor Racketeering involved a BMW dealership beig built? I think he was working with Andy Merola on that. I think he was caught on a wire tap I believe. It all seems so long ago. But Marty did really get screwed on the Jimmy Sinatra hit. That whole extortion centered around Tommy R. While marty , Michael and Tumac were involved in the shakedown in the hotel room in FL. Its was really Tommy R's racket. He lived at the shore and it was him who zeroed in on Shaking down Grayhound Electronics..not Marty. But Phil Leonetti did testify that he Met with Marty in AC about Grayhound. So he had that against him as well.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 8:54 pmThere was an FBI document that he got through FOIPA that proved he wasn't involved in the Craporotta murder. Re: Taccettas, and Martin doing life?
I believe there was a deal on the table for which TR was willing to do 15 without parole but the others would have to agree to ~7-8. They wanted to screw their cousin by not taking the deal thinking they would be acquitted. They also tried to frame him with false testimony. TR was to take over the crew but MP turned on him.
Re: Taccettas, and Martin doing life?
How could TR take over the crew if he was in Jail? You mean that brief period was acting for Tumac? I believe its was the Taccettas that went back to NY and turned on TR and Tumac. They sent hit teams after TR and Tumacs son in FL.outfit guy wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 4:26 pm I believe there was a deal on the table for which TR was willing to do 15 without parole but the others would have to agree to ~7-8. I believe that's what I state prior. TR was the interim head of the crew.

Always found the story of Ricciardi helping to solve the Seton Hall dorm fire fascinating, like something straight out of a movie.
Also at that time of the Seton Hall Dorm Fire, there were a whole crew of the sons of guys in the life in Jersey attending college at Seton Hall and selling Ecstasy , bookmaking, doing loans, selling weed, robbing drug dealers in Newark , etc . They were all in a Frat too that gave them a ready made market I remember (they threw some fucking ragers back in the Ecstasy heydays here in Jersey)!!
I also felt and firmly 100% believe that David Chase got his inspiration for Carlo and Patsy’s kids at college with AJ Soprano in the final season of The Sopranos from the real life Seton Hall scene in the late 1990s/early 2000s. One of the kids in that crew eventually ended up getting straightened out (Johnny Perna). I remember they were like 7 years older than me at the time in Jersey I looked up to them so much they were like Gods walking the Earth to me with the hot women, party drugs, alcohol, endless cash, and cars.
My buddy was in that Frat with Johnny and his crew, I would visit him at Seton Hall to party when I was like 15, 16 years old at the time. The good old days….

Re: Taccettas, and Martin doing life?
With the exclusion of Tommy, I believe everyone was offered an 8-year no parole stretch. Tommy would have been eligible in ~ 14 years. Tommy wanted to take the deal; the others refused; the rest is history.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 12:54 pm In 1993 before he was acquitted of the Craporotta murder (Ricciardi said Taccetta wasn't involved) he was offered a plea deal of 20 years (the murder charge I believe would have been reduced to manslaughter) with parole at 8 or 10 years. He didn't take the deal and ended up getting life plus 10 which included a racketeering (illegal gambling) and extortion charge. He later appealed on ineffective counsel because the lawyer he had the time didn't explain the plea deal properly. That lawyer also submitted an affidavit stating that he didn't explain it properly because if he did then Taccetta would have taken the deal.
Taccetta's second appeal was granted in 2002 but reversed in 2009 because the court said that he would be committing perjury if he had accepted a plea deal in which he would have pleaded guilty when he was innocent of the murder.
So he's basically sitting in jail on a life sentence for illegal gambling and extortion - which is ridiculous.

Michael Ryan was charged and acquitted. Upon Tommy flipping, he took a global federal plea of 10 years and acknowledged the murder. It is alleged Marty was the driver of the car but not proven. Al D'Arco testified to admissions that are not noted in his prior confessions.Rocco wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 2:03 pmWe know that Tommy was there during the Golf Club beating. Its funny , I liked John but I couldn’t stand all those son hanger ons. Such wanna be and always the first word was do you know who my Dad is ? Lol, it was embarrassing as even tho they got respect I’m from Newark / Harrison area so kids from East Hanover were looked at as soft / Rich. Chili’s on Cinco Di Mio Clifton had all those kids wiling out there , breaking bottles , drawing attention.NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 5:06 am Always found the story of Ricciardi helping to solve the Seton Hall dorm fire fascinating, like something straight out of a movie.

It’s seems the Gambinos have a bigger NJ crew then maybe I first thought. They have a hang out in on a main Ave in Bellville like the Luchesse do. An x boxer was one of their bigger gambling guys 5 years ago or so , no idea now but my agent booked thru them , never a problem
Re: Taccettas, and Martin doing life?
That's what I have always thought. Its was Tommy , Michael Ryan and Marty on the scene of the murder. Witness said there were 3 men. Its crazy that you have the guy who was swinging the golf club confess to the murder..yet no one he was with was convicted of the murder even though he has cooperated? How is that possible? I guess part of his deal was he refused to say who was with him . Or how else did Michael Ryan walk? (Michael Ryan...is he even alive these days? I would have to guess he left the life after the early 90s?..either way..very lucky guy !)outfit guy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 5:42 amMichael Ryan was charged and acquitted. Re: Taccettas, and Martin doing life?
He can't testify against him after they've already been charged and he acquitted. MR plead guilty to a federal charge that I believe included admission of the murder. He's around and was spending time at a social club. Not active, he sees a few guys for breakfast. Passed attending a wedding I attended; was expecting to see him.
