Here’s some notes or things I found interesting from the book in the first chapters

- Officer originally worked in a organized crime task force which according to him was mostly old timers and old bookies
- An investigation into drug dealing by James Heeney “Jimmy smalls” is what triggered the whole operation.
- Jimmy smalls running a small op with a couple of dealers. Is confirmed to have ties to bloods gang members
- According to Giovani the word on the street was that they where Associates of the Bruno-Scarfo family of Philly despite them not saying so but they went along with it
- Jimmy Smalls falls for this and engages in a sting op where he gives them low quality coke for swag (stolen goods) and receives $7,000 worth of shoes
- Jimmy Smalls introduces the UC to the Ribera club
- Informants identified Decavalcante associate Luigi Oliveri as the supplier of these drugs
- Jimmy tries to keep Giovani away from Luigi as he says “he is no good” and that “he’ll never make it to the books”
- Jimmy smalls brags to him that his uncle is a Decavalcante Soldier Charlie Stango as Smalls brags he is a made guy, killer and to be promoted to capo
- Luigi is shocked That Smalls says this to an outsider and tries to downplay what he said

- Luigi says he’s known Stango his whole life
- Giovani does a ecstasy deal at an Italian festival with Smalls in Peterson and is noticed by Oliveri and his crew
- People in the neighborhood catch wind there’s a law enforcement investigation inbound
- Oliveri begins to suspect Giovani is a undercover
- Stango is supposedly closed with Gambino soldiers Danny “Gooms” Bertelli and Nino Molinelli
- He meets Danny & Nino Molinelli at a Pizzeria Called Anthony Coal Fired Pizza inClifton, New Jersey. Also sees a Philly associate named “Nicky The Whip” sitting with nino
- Despite word on the street him being a Philly associate Danny brushes it off and the Gambino Nino falls for it
- Oliveri is starting to believe he is a cop and Brings up how Giovani is 40 yrs old and not affaliated with any people
- Jimmy finds out about Giovanis dealings with Luigi and feels like he is being left out of the action and leaves a lot of voice mails
- He eventually meets Stango before he moves to Vegas and puts Smalls on record
- Giovani States Stango has strong ties to the Lucchese,Colombo and Genovese families
- He starts selling swag with a guy named Marco Barone in a auto shop in Union New Jersey and Barone kicks up to Danny Bertelli
- Stango Officially makes Giovani a decavalcante associate and tells him to mention it and to “plant the flag”

- Former Colombo associate now Decavalcante excavation company leader “Mickey”

- Had a situation where he held the door for Gambino Capo Andy Merola and Lucchese Capo Scarfo jr
- Genovese guy named “Augie Lapari”

The problem for me is the book notation that names were changed. So, the names you are citing, with exception, are made up.

The fake names, misidentifying made guys like Nicky Whip as an associate. The one piece of interesting info I've read so far and I'm on chapter 32 is that Charlie Stango was originally with JoJo Ferrara. It's clear that all these idiots like Whitey Stango, mario galli, johnny balls and rest were hardly a DeCavalcante crew, they were just associates of an associate who happened to be an undercover cop that worked for a captain that had no soldiers and lived in Nevada!

It's clear that all these idiots like Whitey Stango, mario galli, johnny balls and rest were hardly a DeCavalcante crew, they were just associates of an associate who happened to be an undercover cop that worked for a captain that had no soldiers and lived in Nevada!

I personally found the book decent not the best but I wouldn’t expect the Undercover to be a LCN expert. And yeah I agree about the “barely a crew” thing these guys are pretty much real life Brendan Filones.

I figured it was a nickname for the book, but Kyle Ragusa was a real Gambino associate busted with Merola some years back.

He must be the first made member named "Kyle".

I have a little more but not a lot from besides what was in the indictments

- He starts selling swag with a guy named Marco Barone in a auto shop in Union New Jersey and Barone kicks up to Danny Bertelli
- Stango Officially makes Giovani a decavalcante associate and tells him to mention it and to “plant the flag”
- Stango talks for hours on the phone much of it recorded
- Stango one day leaves the following message on Giovanis phone “Giovanni, this is Charlie. Whatever you know my nephew’s doing, if it’s against the law, I want nothing to do with it. Do me a favor, please. Don’t set up my nephew neither. And do yourself a favor. Don’t call me back anymore, OK? I want nothing to do with you,kid”
- According to Giovani it was Stango having a nightmare about him being wired up and connected to another guy
- Stango mentions he has “legit companies” in Las Vegas and plans on buying the Olympic Garden Lounge but turns out he was relying on a rich investor who eventually bailed out
- Giovani runs into Danny Bertelli at his girls soccer game with his family and his wife is able to hide the kids from him.
- Giovani makes some bs story about his ex girlfriends daughter playing
- Luigi identifies Jimmy smalls, Pali and Mike as his “crew”

Here’s the whole thing a little long from my notes most of this was in the indictment

- Another undercover agent fucks up something on his phone and accidentally sends a text meant for someone else but ends up sending it to Luigi
-explains why Luigi was made “Word got around that Oliveri had been sucking up to John Riggi, showing up every day at his house, bringing him coffee and pastries, and spending time sitting with him”
- Manny Riggi was pressuring Riggi to make Oliveri before he passed
- Charles Stango says he is going to put Giovani “on record with the administration” and the FBI pressures him to continue as they believe he could be made
- Stango uses his connections to a former Colombo Associate now with the Decavs running a excavation company to give Giovani a office
- Giovani describes this man as “Mickey” and calls him a “sweet man”. Mickey told him he believed Stango could bring more contracts his way
- Stango girlfriend is a leak in law enforcement
- there’s a sit down between Luigi and Stango between the administration and they side with Stango over Giovani
- Giovani is eventually introduced to “milk” and gets his phone number and is introduced to numerous associates
- Luigi had a women at the sight of their meeting tailed after their meeting with Tommy and they see her enter the FBI building
- Luigi asks him if he’s a rat and suspects he is being passive aggressive for the rest of the meeting
- Luigi has an outburst at a decavalcante meeting about his weight and the administration doesn’t take it lightly
- Stango now plots to kill Luigi
- Giovani eventually begins to work with Whitey Stango to build up a crew but the Decavalcante and Gambinos are starting to question where he gets his stuff
- Most of this “crew” are Whiteys gangbanger friends
- Whitey seems to be connected to random street criminals that give him access to marijuana, guns and coke
- They do a drug deal with a dealer named John Capozzi but it ends up going bad when the bag of high grade cocaine explodes in the car
- They later test the purity of a separate bag of cocaine and they inadvertently smell crack cocaine getting high
- The undercover inadvertently helps push along the murder conspiracy bringing up his conflict with Luigi
- There was also plans to kill Manny Riggi if possible
- He is introduced to Mario Gali who claims to have access to marijuana
- Whitey and a man named “Eddie” plan to hijack a truck
- Giovani pretends not to know what RICO is creating a cringeworth conversation
- Giovani introduces undercovers to Stango portraying them as bikers willing to whack Luigi for 10 grand
- Stango reminisces about JoJo Ferrara Who he claims “made him who he is”
- They meet about a dozen lucchese associates at a casino in Vegas and a Genovese guy named “Augie Lapari”
- He then meets “Johhnie Blue” a Genovese soldier supposedly a millionaire
- Joey Perna then walks in receiving kisses and praise from the lucchese associates and recieved Stango with respect as he was a friend of his father
- Augie starts to question Giovani and Stango takes offense to this
- Augie eventually apologizes and then gets into a car accident a few weeks later
- The idiotic conspiracy to whack Luigi continues
- The fbi pulls the plug over the murder conspiracy
- The agent starts to feel guilty over this
- The FBI never finds out who was leaking to the Decavs
- Stango cries during interrogation yelling “Ah, Patty, Patty! Patty! Sorry, Patty!” He rubbed his eyes, and repeated, “Oh, Patty. I’m sorry, Patricia. I’m sorry.” He leaned back further, rubbing his face, and said, “I’m sorry, Patty. Jesus Christ!” And then he raised his voice: “Fucking Giovanni! Giovanni! Wash your face, Giovanni! Wash your fucking face!”
-The agent interprets this as Stango telling him to kill himself
- Giovani claims to have gotten close to Stango
- The agent is forced to relocate with his family and recieves a promotion to travel abroad and talk about infiltrating OC groups

Honestly I liked the book from the point of view from the cop. I wasn’t expecting him to be a LCN historian but 15 fucking dollars? Guy ain’t Joe Pistone

Looks like as sad as the other crew was Stango had serious stuff like the excavation company and some businesses in Vegas. He mentioned them partnering with the Colombo’s in the “shipping business” and the Decavs sending the swag to the Gambinos where they would sell it.

Only thing extremely interesting tho is that the Decavs had/have people law enforcement people leaking info to them via Stango’s girlfriend. They never found these people
