I'm sorry, but his daughter's situation does not give him a pass. His daughter's issue is completely unrelated to this. He's not paying his taxes, and is clearly lying about his income. And we'll skip over the fact that he probably has been involved in murders and drugs in his life. This is very straight forward. He's lying about his income, and hasn't paid taxes since 2004. End of story.JakeTheSnake630 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:40 am "My gambling income for 2017 was 22,500" hand written on a lined piece of paper with no supporting documents. That's hilarious. Did he think that would hold up? I think its pretty rotten of the feds to indict this guy given his family circumstances. Unless theres drugs or murders involved, who cares if this guy cares for his daughter with gambling proceeds, tribute money, etc. Leave the guy alone. Aren't there more pressing matters for the feds to focus on?

I agree somewhat you can't just exempt someone b/c they have a sad story, I get that. The gov't wants their piece or they put you in a cage is what it boils down to. But thats a whole other can of worms.Adam wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:55 amI'm sorry, but his daughter's situation does not give him a pass. His daughter's issue is completely unrelated to this. If nobody sees it, it didn't happen.
Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
Sorry if that came across as harsh. But you are correct that almost everyone can provide a sob story. We all pay taxes. His reasoning and documentation is a joke. It's a straight up "these rules don't apply to me" attitude that his family has had for decades. I mean his uncle used Paul Corrado to blackmail an IRS agent in the 1980s over gambling debts his mother had to the Detroit mob to get his own confidential IRS file. The Foreman case. Which does not get enough coverage. This is the Giacalone family attitude to not just taxes but everything. Murder is okay. Extortion is okay. Drugs are okay. Destroying lives are okay. And Jackie has been part of this his whole life. Sorry his daughter had a sad medical issue, but take that out of the picture and he acts exactly the same.JakeTheSnake630 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:09 amI agree somewhat you can't just exempt someone b/c they have a sad story, I get that. The gov't wants their piece or they put you in a cage is what it boils down to. Scott keep posting here. Some great Intel.scott22 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:41 am The story's headline refers to him as "Accused crime leader." Then in the story itself it says "reputed Detroit organized crime leader."
Det News editorial wouldn't allow Rob to call him "mob boss" or "mob don," because he's never been convicted of being an OC shot caller. They ID him as a made member of Detroit OC, per US Senate testimony from '88. FBI would not comment for story.

I wonder what the rest of the detroit LCN think about this.
Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
The feds are looking at him in the '01 John John Jarjosa hit & the '02 Gerry Bianchette hit. Jackie had altercations with John John's dad and Gerry himself in the weeks before both were clipped. I think his dustup with Bianchette was actually only a few days prior to Bianchette getting whacked.
Jackie made his bones on the 1985 Pete Cavataio hit. His name has popped up in the '85 "Harry Mack" investigation too. I don't belivee he was the triggerman in either of the '85 hits but was present and involved in the conspiracies. The feds believe he ordered Jarjosa hit and organized Bianchette hit on behalf of Jack Tocco.

Like Scott posted, no angel regardless of what happened to his daughter. Scott, is there still talk that the Bianchette hit was outsourced to Albanians or some other group?scott22 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 10:50 am The feds are looking at him in the '01 John John Jarjosa hit & the '02 Gerry Bianchette hit. Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
Albanian hit man retained by Butch Stramaglia, allegedly. Stramaglia and Bianchette were beefing over a drug deal gone bad. Gerry thought he was going to meet Butch to resolve the issue and get paid money he felt he was owed - instead he got shot gunned at a construction site coming from a wedding. I believe the reason he was hit tho was a message to Tony Zerilli, who had just reported to prison the week before Bianchette was killed and was in a huge feud with Jack Tocco. Gerry was Tony Z's driver, bodyguard & collector at the time. Jackie Giacalone ran into Gerry at a bar/restaurant and Gerry was alleged to have cursed Jackie in front of a bunch of people in the days surrounding Tony Z getting ready to go to the can. Gerry had just gotten a PPO against him from some debtor/business owner he threatened on behalf of Tony Z and Jackie was allegedly giving him an earful about his behavior. Bianchette was slain the following weekend. Tony Z felt like it was Jack officially shelving him and giving him a big fuck u by whacking his main guy on the outside. The week before that Jack Tocco sent a crew into Tony Z's house and removed a safe while Tony Z was in court waiting for the jury's decision on his RICO.

Agreed with this 100%. These guys all have Al Capone as an example of what not to do, and shit that tax case he had was 90 years ago. There’s no excuse to not pay up to the IRS.Adam wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:55 amI'm sorry, but his daughter's situation does not give him a pass. His daughter's issue is completely unrelated to this. There’s a lot of shit the feds may not care much about or may look the other way on, but not paying any taxes is always going to bite you in the ass.
I mean seriously, how hard is it to get a bullshit no-show job so you can have a legit W2? Then funnel your street money through different front companies, etc. Aren’t there any crooked lawyers left in Detroit who can help this guy?
Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
I honestly wonder if Jackie Giacalone figured that after he got acquitted of racketeering in 2007 and knowing that there were no more FBI resources really getting applied to the mob that he could just lay back and do whatever he wanted.stubbs wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:54 pmAgreed with this 100%. Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
As Scott has said previously Jackie is so despondant about his daughter that he seems to have given up on life. This tax thing almost seems to be done on purpose, as if he just doesn't give a damn anymore. Maybe he subconciously blames himself for Chantel and is trying to punish himself.
I know that as you get older you get more introspective and start examining your life, many aging mobsters regret the path they took.
Ralph Natale said that on his headstone he wants the inscription "Here lie's a Wasted Life"....

Re: Giacalone catching a tax case....
This may come across as me being mean, but it's not. I always like it when people add their opinion on a topic. BUT....Lets not get too dramatic. He obviously hasn't given up on life. And this tax nonsense he's been doing predates his daughter's situation. It's what his family does. It's what they've been doing for decades and he's been the beneficiary of it. I honestly have trouble accepting Jack V Giacalone as the "I regret my life" kind of person. And please, please, please, don't ever quote Natale. Especially not in this context. He didn't regret his life he got fucking caught selling meth and didn't want to die in jail. Slightly different.desertdog wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 4:45 pm As Scott has said previously Jackie is so despondant about his daughter that he seems to have given up on life. He knows he's "under the microscope" and he does something like this? There has to be more going on. He's not a stupid Man.
