It is easier to go unnoticed as an Associate than a member. By the time a guy reaches a point where he is inducted he has been active on the street for several years if not decades, has likely done time in prison and has been around several made members (including members with ranks) for a lengthy period. It is near impossible for the existence of a guy like that to escape the detection of LE. At best the knowledge of a guy like that getting made might take a few months or in rare cases a few years to leak to LE but it eventually will.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Especially since in most cases, newly made guys are trying to get the word out about their new status, so that they can readily take advantage of it.
