Frank Cullotta because he thought that Spilotro was going to kill him.

Sonny Mercurio because the Mafia wasn't helping his family while he was in prison.

Tomasso Buscetta whose family and friends were being targeted by Riina and the Corlonesi

Salvatore Vitale because was de facto put on shelf by Massino and cut all his profts but despite this he helped Massimo to organize Gerlando Sciascia murder in 1999 but Massino continued to don't trust Vitale and when in 2002 Vitale was arrested decided to stay loyal despite nobody helped his family when was in jail but after other made men start calling him "Fredo",Vitale decided that had enought of Massino.

i don't think there's a "good" reason to flip or a "good rat" since that's the life they chose, but al d'arco's case is interesting since he didn't actually have any charges against him, he just thought he was gonna get whacked. and being around amuso and casso at that time, it wasn't really a stretch of the imagination. i do believe they probably had more reasons than al mentioned though, he probably was skimming the bosses money.

I never said good or bad rat only a rat with a good reason to flip that wasn't the risk to be killed or a long sentence,Vitale was unpopolar and Massino treated him like a pariah while his "trusted" men started to flip and in the Raab book one of them had a nervous breakdown at the idea of going to jail, these tought mobsters! While Vitale didn't nothing and despite them Massimo ordered to whack him.

Those who don't want to do heavy prison time FLIP for them its a good reason. Massino Lino and Coppa are all fat fucks and couldn't stand the thought of Prison food the rest of their lives..so that did it for them. FOOD
