Here's the thing....

NYC becoming the way it is is the world running it's course.
It's not JUST NYC that is "becoming ghetto"

Gentrification created this because you got neighborhoods where people were happy being themselves and kicked them out.... Littrally

Now these areas that are all of a sudden became a "good neighborhood" ten years down the line seeing that maybe the hood shoulda been left alone....

Also....just look at history. History is repating itself and it will continue to do so....

NYC 70s might not come back but I will admit I had so much more fun THIS TIME rather to the yuppie ville tourist proud NYC of 10 years ago that I SPECIFICALLY LEFT BEHIND

But remember....
I'm from Detroit. And in the rap industry.
HANG IT UP NICKY. ITS TIME TO GO HOME.

Wouldn't say it's bad, but not great - even for that little strip. If you're dead set on that area, maybe La Mela or Puglia (if it's still open) might do you one better.

But if you're looking for a red sauce place that is stereotypically mobbed up - you absolutely have to go to Parkside. It's a given. I mean, why not? Or take it even further and go out to Howard Beach and go to the clam place, Lenny's. Lot of regular run of the mill connected neighborhood guys go there and if you're into clams, seafood, all of that- it's a good spot. Very far off the beaten path if you're relying on the train to get around though - might have to uber or drive.

If you've already had your red sauce fill and don't want to do Parkside, go out to that neighborhood during the day and stop by Leo's for a hero at least.
Quality post as usual New.

Keep it up, enjoy your reads. Cheers
Thank you!

How’s the food at Patsy’s Rigoletto lately? Anyone ate there recently?

For Arthur Ave Zero Otto Nove is great (believe the owner is from Salerno).

Also, for pizza Uptown I always really liked the original Patsy’s on 1st Ave/118.

Apart from all of the East Harlem/Pleasant Ave mob history in the area, Pacino I believe lived as a baby there on 1st Ave. Plus the scene from Godfather 1 where Sonny whupped on Carlo was filmed right there on 118 between 1st and Pleasant. Still some old Italian families in a couple of those brownstones.

I was at Pasquale’s on Arthur Ave last in Feb 2017, it was great- sat at the bar with my Cousin and Father.

Same bartender straight out of central casting who has been the bartender there for years ever since I first went there in 2009, I think he might be related to Patsy if I recall correctly from my conversations with him over the years as anytime I go there I have sat at the bar to eat and drink.

It’s a great red sauce joint that at least when Patsy was around used to have a lot of activity in the bar area if you know what I mean.....

Zero Otto Nove , had the best swordfish I ever had in that restaurant which was completely shocking to me as I live at the Jersey Shore and typically eat fish and shellfish that was pulled out of the water that very day. Zero Otto Nove is probably the most “elegant” place on Arthur Ave , I’ve been to them all and my favorite is Dominick’s because I love how they don’t have a menu and you just tell them what you want, more restaurants should follow that lead. The baked clams appetizer at Dominick’s is to fucking die for!

Took my girl at the time to Zero Otto Nove after we hit up The Bronx Zoo, the whole time I was there with her and her massive mammaries hanging outta her shirt at the snake exhibit I was thinking about the scene from Sopranos were Tony raw dogs Gloria Trillo in that very same snake exhibit, didn’t work out for me the same way as it did for Tony LOL

Zero Otto Nove (089) is indeed the area code for Salerno, which is where that cockeyed jerkoff Roberto is from. Aside from being an arrogant asshole, he knows how to cook.

This is the realest statement in this thread besides all the good restaurants I posted lol

Everytime I put on the news and another 78 year old bottle collecting chinese lady gets punched directly in the back of the head you can bet it’s a black guy who did it especially if the news makes absolutely no mention of the perpetrators race.
The one or two times it was a white guy they play up the white supremacy angle like it was a kkk lynching in the Deep South.

Is Enzo's worth the drive up to Arthur Ave? I hear it's great

The enzo's outpost in the terminal market on arthur ave has the best pizza in all of nyc and contender for the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Nothing else like it. It's perfect. I've been going up there on fridays to get some lately

You mean inside the Arthur Ave “Retail Market” building? Is the pizza different than at the original Enzo’s location?
