Former New York City police officer Frank Serpico's forty-one-year-old son died of a drug overdose yesterday. In the early 1970s, Serpico exposed widespread police corruption, including cops in bed with heroin dealers and gangsters. Terrible to lose a child, especially like this.
They made his story into a pretty good book, and movie with Al Pacino.

Ironic, to say the least.
All roads lead to New York.

God rest the son.. but I have no sympathy for a man that doesn’t step up to the plate.. clearly his cowardly choices had quite an impact on his kids life.furiofromnaples wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 2:16 amC'mon he lost a son! He was a big time liberal that wanted drugs legalized

I get that there are bad aspects for pretty much all of of us(myself included), but I try to separate that from the good acts they do perform. Knapp commission was an important thing that wouldn't have happened until someone finally testified. And there's a legitimate case to be made that he was almost killed because of it. And the child support thing does seem like a more complicated issue than him just saying "I don't wanna pay." There seems to be a "tricked" aspect to it. But cutting down on police corruption in New York is a good thing.Gabagool718 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 8:41 pm Serpico was a deadbeat pos took his baby moms all the way to NY Supreme Court to try and get outta paying child support.. some “hero” he was smh

A lot of guys get screwed on child support. I know of a guy who has a 50/50 custody agreement, but he still has to pay his ex-wife child support. Too many women confuse child support with baby mama support—and the courts are all too happy to oblige. More "male privilege," I guess.

Absolutely. I also know a lot of guys who get out of jail/prison, genuinely want to turn their lives around, but decent paying jobs won’t hire them and they can’t live on fast food money plus pay support, so they go back to what they know. Which invariably leads them to getting jammed up again at some point.TallGuy19 wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 2:55 pm A lot of guys get screwed on child support.
