I have heard that Matty Madonna killed someone in prison, does anyone know more about this? I also heard on a Larry Lawton podcast that Nicky Scarfo stabbed someone in prison. Would love to hear more about that if anyone knows, also any other incidents of mob guys killing or attempting to kill another inmate.

I don't have American cases in mind but here are 3 murders of mafiosi in Italy:

-Domenico Tripodo, killed in a prison by Raffaele Cutolo's men to do a favor to the De Stefanos in 1976.

Dwalin is right.Torretta died of kidney failure at Asinara island prison because get 27 years in 1968 for the Cianciulli massacre. He was banished from Sicily.

Yes,after Genovese gave him the kiss of death he think that the inmate was Joseph DiPalermo a lucchese made man and killed him. The risk of death penalty was the reason that lead to Valachi flipping. If Genovese would let in pace Valachi,he would do his 15 years keeping the mouth shout.

My bad, thank you furio. I think I confused (go find out why) with Vincenzo Puccio who was beaten to death by Antonino and Giuseppe Marchese, on the orders of Toto Riina in 1989.
