Was Rocco Zito's son in law, Domenic Antonio Scopelitti, related to Eugenio Rocco Scopelitti that's mentioned in the article?

There's a Magaddino tape that suggests John Papalia was supposed to be murdered with Albert Agueci but didn't show up. Other recordings show Papalia was in extremely poor standing with Magaddino during this time and being blamed for all kinds of heat.

The Magaddino leadership also discussed killing Agueci's wife as they feared she would cooperate. At one point they tried to get a line on Valachi because someone connected to the Buffalo family had a relative who worked at the base where Valachi was staying. While the brutal Agueci murder is the only killing that appears to have happened, the Buffalo family was looking to eliminate everyone connected to that case. The Jake Russo murder might even be part of this.

Many of the known Canadian members were in poor standing at this time... Papalia, Aguecis, Harry Bordonaro, Danny Gasbarrini, and Paul Volpe. Magaddino was reluctant to communicate with them and disparaged them on tape.

This is the same period where the Bonanno family was accused of inducting new members in Canada without Commission approval, some of which were in Ontario. I wonder if the Bonannos took advantage of the Buffalo Ontario crew's weakened status when they recruited members there. The active Buffalo members in Ontario were all but shelved at the time and Joe Bonanno coincidentally recruited in Ontario during this time.

I think you're mistaken, everything says it was Domenico Scopelliti with an E. I've check various different articles and it's all the same.

Shit you're right, my mistake. Sorry for that, I don't know why I was thinking it was written like that

I'll write more about Eugenio Rocco Scopelliti -- I refer to him as Rocco farther below -- in the older thread "Benedetto Zizzo/Ontario" that motorfab created at

viewtopic.php?p=175430#p175430

but for now I'll say that Scopelliti is a fairly common Calabrian surname and that intermarriage between Scopellitis and Zitos in Calabria goes back centuries, which means that you'll find the same intermarriage and relationships outside of Italy as a result of migration.

Rocco's father was a Domenico.

I have been looking more for any blood or marriage ties between Rocco Scopelliti and Rocco Zito, as my first instinct when Domenico Scopelliti made the news in January 2016 for killing father-in-law Zito was that he might have been related to Rocco Scopelliti.
