'This is for you, Frank!' He practiced for a month with the revolver before the shooting.

He either winged him on purpose to appease both sides or he really is the dumbest mobster to ascend to the top.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

We can never be 100% sure, but there are no indications he missed on purpose. The whole Genovese faction was in shambles after Gigante's fuck up. They were gearing up for an all out war with Costello. Vito had 30 armed bodyguards show at his house. Catena was walking around with a dozen men with shotguns and trench coats like it was the 1920s.

Yeah, I know. He aimed for the head for crying out loud. Definitely tried to kill him. I suppose someone can be a horrible shot and still have the wit to go as far as he did.

What's with all the new faces?

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

The Gigante family had connections to Vito, and as we recently discussed in another thread, likely to Sandino Pandolfo too. I suspect he could've been a complete moron and still get a button. Genovese's whole inner circle loved the Gigante brothers. You can even say that Mario was more reckless than Chin in their early years. From his rap sheet, Chin doesn't look like he had much wit until the 1970s when he started the crazy act.

Jesus Christ. Looks like a fortress around here.
