I do know from growing up however, Joe Shine had a piece of Scudiero's and basically everything else in Melrose Park. They do own real estate.

Joe Shine had like 8 or 9 kids. Most of those kids became cops, firefighters and legitimate guys. One of the Amabile boys married the daughter of Harry Aleman - Terri. Because he couldn't make money any other way, worked for Cicero under the Spano's courtesy of Ferriola, along with another brother Jimmy (who was indicted with Carparelli). What this tells me is that there is still enough money to be made for these guys to risk it like this - and that I think you will find Jimmy Amabile being tied with Billy DiDomenico's ring - which may have been Paloian's the entire time.
One wonders why the Amabile kid wound up working under Spano, and not the Carlisi/Marcello crew. Either way, after the Zizzo thing Cicero gobbled up whatever action was left in MP. Though I’ve heard that EP still has interests there under Tony Dote.

Thanks Solar.

One way or the other, the lines all seem to still be interconnected quite a bit. As I said before, I'm curious to know what else is in those court docs from Sarno's petition and the rest of the indictment involving Del Giudice. A lady i know out in Orland's buddy was a big sports gambler and was very unhappy about the Super Bowl this year cause Del Giudice took most of his action lol.

Good call Solar on the DiDomenico ring possibly being the progenitor of of the Paloian ring. At the time (2002) Natale Saraceno was noted to have been meeting with an un indicted conspirator, so there must have been guys involved who weren’t named in the indictment.

Any info on what happened to the DiDomenico guys since? Saraceno was picked up on several burglary charges in the ensuing years, but looks like he was released 2018.

Billy D died like a year or so ago - I have no idea who was in his crew. I believe Natale Saraceno's name has come up before and he is a gangbanger, but Vince Saraceno who was in Melrose Park worked for Billy D. He was caught selling a massive amount of fireworks on North Avenue . Literally these guys act like its the 70s still with these crimes.

He worked for Spano because he was married to Harry Aleman's daughter Terri - and was therefore put into Joe Nick Ferriola's crew. Aleman was Ferriola's nephew and from my view, served a lot of time for Ferriola specifically.

Thanks, that of course makes sense.

So this makes way more sense now, lmao I glazed over the Bachelorette part. Did anyone talk about this when it happened? I had no idea.

Amabile pleaded guilty at Dirksen this morning. Would post the link to the article, but beyond that its the same article as initially written with the addition of the Sarno info.

Michele Merlo's 1905 naturalization was witnessed by an Amabili who lived on Larrabee street. Wonder if there's a relation.

Great catch. The witness's name is given on the naturalization record as "Maik Amabili". I believe this was a Michele "Mike" Amabile who lived on the Near North Side (North Park and Schiller) and died in 1939 in St. Joseph, MI. He was born in 1864 in Sala Consilina, Salerno, and entered the US sometime in the 1880s. He was naturalized in St Louis in 1888. As Joe Shine's family was also from Salerno, it's possible that there is a connection. Shine's family, however, was from Bracigliano, which is about 100km from Sala Contilina (which is on the border with Potenza). So I see no evidence of a link if there was one.

The fact that this Amabile witnessed Merlo's naturalization in 1905 does provide another hint of possible early links between the mafia and Mainlanders in Chicago, in addition to the Morici/Di Giovanni incident from four years earlier.

EDIT: The earliest record I can find for Michele Amabile entering the US was in 1878 at NYC, via England.

I love discovering the familial relationships between different Outfit members and associates. I'm researching Outfit informer Louis Bombacino who died in 1975. His brother, Anthony Bombacino, married the daughter of the owner of Albano Bakery. Anthony's son, also named Louis Bombacino, was active in the Outfit.

Anthony's brother-in-law was Eugene Albano. Albano was Paul Ricca's associate and testified in his defense at his perjury trial.

Albano was reportedly Joseph Amabile's cousin.

Villian mentioned that John Cerone had to bite the bullet and go to prison when Ricca testified against him because he promoted Bombacino. I agree with that, but I wonder if Ricca is more responsible for Bombacino's promotion within the organization than has been previously believed. As others have noted, Ricca reportedly enjoyed the special diabetic bread baked at Albano's and would have been friendly with Louis's brother.

Bombacino's original connection to the Outfit was through his childhood friend Frank Aureli (and maybe Joe Ferriola, the article is imprecise).

Did you notice that Michele Merlo married a Carmela Borsellino? Possibly related to "Tony Bors" Borsellino, or any of the several other Borsellinos?

Yeah I saw that in the new DeCav/Riberesi chart, but is that the same Michele Merlo? Mike Merlo’s wife was Maria Pecoraro, who I believe was from Vicari, Palermo.

Tony Borsellino’s father Luigi was from Ravanusa, Agrigento. I know that there were Borsellinos in Elizabeth who were from Ribera as well. Given that Ravanusa is like 100km from Ribera, I don’t know if there would be any direct connect, assuming that this Carmella Borsellino actually was from Ribera.
