Did Scarfo's really get bullied by some kids in High School because his father was a mob boss?

I remember reading this on somewhere that his son got bullied by some jerks and eventually he took his own life. The only thing I don't understand is reason why he got bullied because isn't it cool to have a mob boss father? Like your father is a mob boss. Especially for the high school kids, if you have a known mob boss father, you should be scared not bullied. My mind just don't get it. So can someone explain the whole situation to me.

BTW: What happened to those jerks that bullied his son? Did he get them killed?

In italy they will be killed but nothing happened and the kid tried to suicide and went to to coma. And nicky sr blamed his kid saying that had no balls.
