Reminds me of the funny story Dom Cicale told of Tony Green Urso showing up to a meeting in a parking lot with spandex on. I wonder if DeSantis had on a cycling suit and helmet. lol

Hired_Goonz wrote: Sun Feb 28, 2021 7:23 am The one that I found the most intriguing was the comment about Madonna. That he owes his position to getting close to Amuso in prison. Is that true? Vic went down in 1992 I believe, so he went in as Madonna was winding down his long sentence. I'm not sure what facility Amuso was initially sent to but it definitely would have been a USP. Would Matty have still been in high-security 16 or 17 years into his bid? I would be interested to know the details behind this.

Also, was Madonna on record with the Lucchese family before he got locked up? Hard to imagine that he would have been running around in the 70s pushing that H as a free agent.
Yeah, exactly. I asked the same thing in another thread about Madonna, East Harlem, heroin, etc. - was he always a Lucchese associate and if so, who was he on record with? What I always assumed is that he always WAS with the Luccheses and it was a case of bad timing. He was making moves when the books were closed, and then he got locked up for damn near 1/3rd of his life. I figured he'd be a guy that would have been made if it weren't for that, and when he got out and was fast tracked to Captain, it was because it was 'owed' to him almost.

I'm spitballing the dates here but you brought up a good point - Amuso would have went straight to a USP, and at that time Madonna only had two or three (??) years left on his sentence, so it would have been weird...but not impossible...for him to still be at a USP, unless he caused trouble in the can or was still thought of someone with significant influence. Also there wasn't any violence on Madonna's initial indictment/charges anyway, right? It was a drug conspiracy? So I wonder if he even had crossed paths with Amuso personally in prison. I'm guessing he was always on record with the family, kept in touch with people, and word hit Amuso that he was getting out soon, and the rest is history.

Back to Sideburns...one of the best comments is about John Baudanza "running around dressed as a fucking New York Yankee" - there's not much info or photos about Baudanza online but one of the only pictures of him around shows him dressed in a Yankees jersey and his old Wikipedia entry said he was an avid history buff and a die hard fan of the Yankees
Just remembering this post on LCN Bios about Ralph Natale's 302s. He mentioned that he crossed paths with Amuso in Danbury in March 1992. Now Vic obviously was still awaiting trial at that time so he was being held at Danbury instead of MDC for whatever reason, I guess they do that sometimes. So perhaps that's where Madonna was being held near the end of his sentence and had a chance to get close to Amuso. Natale doesn't mention Matty among the wiseguys doing time there but he wasn't made yet and wasn't as big of a name at the time Natale was singing to the feds.

  • On March 16, 1992 transferred from FCI McKean to FCI Danbury, Connecticut. Those incarcerated at facility included Vittorio Amuso (Lucchese Boss), Stefano Mazzola (Genovese), John Santilli (Philadelphia) and Vincent Zappola (Lucchese). Through Zappola, Natale was introduced to Amuso, at the time awaiting trial on Federal racketeering charges: "[Amuso and I] had two or three weeks together, we had coffee and donuts, and I expressed to him what I thought that I could do in Philadelphia, and what would happen. And I asked him to do me a favor. I said you're gone to New York. I said see if you run into John Gotti, and ask John Gotti if he sent John Stanfa to Philadelphia. If he knows him, if he knows of him, or whatever. And please send word back with Vinnie Zappola's nephew, 'cause Vinnie Zappola's nephew was on the visiting list. He could come and see Vinnie. I'd appreciate it. We know exactly what to do with this John Stanfa." Note: Natale's claim that he and Amuso had 'two or three weeks together' does not match up with official records. Amuso, at Danbury since his arrest the previous September, was transferred four days after Natale's arrival.

He DOES kind of resemble Lance Armstrong a little in his mugshot / photo. Plus it's obvious from the photo that he has veneers or artificially whitens his teeth - so him shaving his legs and "manscaping" probably isn't a stretch. These are all yuppie traits, so it seems Sideburns was actually right on the money. Despite this and the resignation letter, the guy was involved in at least 2 hits and 1 failed hit attempt - probably somebody not to play with.

It'd be funny if more details from his personal life come out after he's inevitably indicted and we find out he's a vegan and all sorts of other funny, weird yuppie shit. Trying to hold sitdowns over Zoom and silently backing Baldy Mike Spinelli's new Yoga studio

Maybe as acting boss he's instituted a new rule: all formal introductions between made members have to include pronouns.

You guys are cracking me up. For some reason I just cannot picture a made man in Cosa Nostra riding a bicycle. My brain just can't do it.

DeSantis is a killer, eh? What hits was he involved in? I'm not familiar.

Better than being locked up. I'm sure other guys have done more embarrassing things than that to avoid surveillance.

Tino Fiumara used to ride for hours in the trunk of a car before attending meetings, so DeSantis riding a bike like one of them yuppies doesn't sound so bad in comparison.
