Broooo.. I gotta ask you something here.....

In the Cicale files, he said Basciano got a load from Montreal, weed and ecstacy pills. He said Basciano and his crew had no idea how to move pills. I thought this unfathomable, that a dealer of Bascianos stature, couldn't move x in NY, capitol of nightlife, in the late 90s- early 2000s, when like, JaRule was huge in NY in the clubs, and all the broads wanted x.

Is that plausible to you, that such a huge dealer couldnt figure out how to sell ecstacy pills to ravers?
Nah, That's a head scratcher, Back then everybody and they're mother was doing ecstasy. IT was the easiest thing in the world to move, It basically sold itself !! Basically all someone had to do was go out to one of the many clubs at the time and have it available on hand, No matter who you were the stuff would be gone immediately as much as you had, The more you had the better , The demand was sky high thru the roof ! I don't get that at all

From the Cicale files..
....

Cicale estimated that Vinny and Bruno owed more than $180,000 for marijuana, and around $375,000 for the 250,000 ecstasy pills. “The gym bag was still stuffed with ecstasy pills because apparently it was not a drug in demand among Vinny and Bruno’s dealers at the time.” Cicale said. “Vinny and Bruno didn’t have a clue as to how to get rid of the pills.”

This is like, 2001. Does this make sense to you?
Or is it an indication that Vinny controlled primarily dealers on the streets? But how hard was it to set up in the many NY clubs? Fuckin parking lot, whatever .... I don't get it.....
This is so funny because Hootie was talking about this *exact* topic on that podcast with John Pennisi the other day. He was saying very few wiseguys know how to actually sell drugs. Their positions in the underworld and their networking capabilities allow them to meet major connects, but once they get the 150 kilos, or 200,000 pills, or 500 pounds, they don’t know how to piece it out and move around. He said almost every wiseguy that handles a major shipment has a few black and Hispanic dealers in Brooklyn and Harlem they trust that will give the work to.

Honestly if you think about it, it makes sense. Let’s say you are a kid growing up around the life. You sell some fireworks, run football slips and number sheets, maybe sell a little weed here or there. You work your way up and start collecting money, driving guys around, etc. Maybe bust a few windows and crack a few jaws. This person doesn’t grow up entrenched in the drug business, but when they go do 5 years for their first racketeering pinch, they might meet some guy in jail whose 3rd cousin is a high ranking cartel member or something. They build a relationship and trust and the wiseguy is told he can get any amount of drugs once he’s out. Now when he takes that first 100 kilo shipment, he’s not gonna know what the fuck to do with it. That’s where, according to Hootie, they’ll make a deal with a Dominican in Washington Heights or a black guy in Harlem, who will bust the shipment down and piece it out.

The only thing that could make that make sense is if the year is wrong. I'd say by 2010 ecstasy was thing of the past and people were doing straight up molly but in 2001 you'd get $20-$25 per pill and you didn't have to walk ten paces to sell out.

If you look at the mob-related drug cases over the past 20 years - as opposed to arriving at a conclusion based off the anecdotes of one or two guys - the mob has moved pills by the truck load. Ecstasy and prescription drugs have probably been their second largest drug money maker after marijuana. And that doesn't happen by not knowing how to move the stuff.

If you look over those cases, you see a lot of examples of associates, loosely connected guys, and sons or other relatives of a made guy or associate actually moving the pills. In other words, a generally younger crowd who would know where to sell them.

This is why I dont really believe that account from Cicale..... it doesnt really make sense.... the mob supplied ALL the pills... ok not all, but a lot...

My guess is vinny probably had older guys in his crew who werent aware of the rave scene. So after a little bit of digging he probably figured out x is a young mans drug so then he had to find younger guys from his neighbourhood to push them.

That makes sense. I think another big part of it I forgot is all this was done behind Massinos back, so they probably, purposefully didnt widen the network, for fear of word getting back up top.......
