Wonder what happened to all those guys and crews from the 90's
Was reading the LIRR OT cheat article with skinny Doms son and his buddy Balestra Jr. , Balestra Sr. Was a notorious gun dealer to 4 of the 5 NY families in the 90's as was featured in the NY times article posted by Wiseguy , The main buyer and conduit for the guns was a guy by the name of Giaochino "Jack Five hands" Cinquemanni who was a young 29 year old Lucchese associate based in Astoria Queens who was supposedly affiliated with many street crews and offshoots and the leader of a 9 man crew involved in Robberies extortions hijackings Loansharking drug trafficking assaults and murders etc etc...Another was Anthony Persichetti of Bensonhurst bklyn and Sal Candela, Very young guys at the time .There were so many crews back then it would make your head spin, Notorious Crews like the Bath ave boys, The Young guns , the Giannini crew, New Springville,
And the 20th ave boys who we know about , But in between those crews there were dozens upon dozens of others who were notorious and even more entrenched and violent and profitable that are almost like unknowns who at point or another were taken down and written about . Now these guys in these crews go basically unheard of in any indictments or articles etc. Wonder what happened to these guys as the vast majority, They're names never come back up, Were they made, Are they still part of today's Lcn? If anyone has any insight or info on those crews and guys from the 90s please feel free to post, We all know the 80s and 90s were a very crazy time .Thanks

To my Knowledge everyone from those Young Turk Crews Either Got Made, killed, prison, flipped and or went legit
Paul Ragusa from the Giannini crew is involved with the Bonnanos/Gambinos. Also supposedly Steven Crea and John Lubrano started out with the “Tanglewoods” boys and are made now.

I was in my teens / going out years at their tail end in the late 90s but were the BTS "brooklyn terror squad" ever connected to LCN? Group of sick, grimey kids who sold drugs and robbed party goers at the clubs and raves. I know that some of the old promoters, etc. were from Bensonhurst and it's really not too small of a world. I wonder if any of those BTS kids 'graduated' into more organized crime. Good topic, there were tons of young crews.

Sorry meant to say overrall everyone who was in the crews either had their lives ruined or killed with a minority still in the mob life. Pretty much everyone got fucked and got used by the higher ups to do their dirty workPhilly d wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:59 pmBesides made, prison, flipped, or legit what other options could there be?Dave65827 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:42 am To my Knowledge everyone from those Young Turk Crews Either Got Made, killed, prison, flipped and or went legit

I think alot of guys as they get older cant earn and its not fun anymore so they kind of just drift away and get real jobs.If your in this to make money but cant you go and choose a different life. But some guys just want the rep so even if they earn nothing they would rather be broke and a joke on the street than smarten up and get a real job.On the street if your not making money your a joke

Re: Wonder what happened to all those guys and crews from the 90's
So were the leaders known at all???
For example.... Jimmy Coonan and the Westies.
What about Purple Gang... was Meldish really the leader??
And also ..
Would you say these gangs were equal to such as Bloods , crips and mexican gangs, etc? Or did they pretty much stay working with LCN?
What was the one crew that was in the good nat geo doc?? The guy that pushed Anthony Spiro.
Was that Jimmy Calandra??

Born To Steal was how I knew the BTS kids but we’re def talking the same crew. They robbed kids at raves after fleecing whatever drug dealers they could find at the raves. They had huge balls but were grimey as it gets. I can’t say any of them that I knew (which was not very well) even came close to getting straightened out.newera_212 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:32 pm I was in my teens / going out years at their tail end in the late 90s but were the BTS "brooklyn terror squad" ever connected to LCN? Louie and Vinny Iacono plus a bunch of other Italian/Irish kids and even a couple black kids were CTS canarsie terror squad.

Are you talking about Born to Steal the book? The Wall Street kids? If so, I definitely agree - that was a really interesting story and frankly, much better than the shit that Belfort conjured up. Matter of fact I wonder who Belfort was paying off because it was common knowledge that at ever single chop house and bucket shop in and around the tri-state area there were connected guys behind the scenes with their hands in everyone's pockets, and in some cases, on the floor on the phones themselves. That kid from Born to Steal was like the Forrest Gump of penny stocks and worked for just about every chop house in NY, and was able to stay at every single chop house which family was in charge. So every place he worked at had wiseguys (sometimes 'just' associates) at the helm, but Belfort's Stratton Oakmont or whatever it was called was able to operate independently with no problems?
The other BTS I mentioned , Born to Steal or Brooklyn Terror Squad was basically a little street gang from all over Brooklyn (mostly southern Brooklyn where all of the other usual suspects we talk about on here are from) who just ran amok robbing drug dealers, party promoters, party goers, etc. - heavily "involved" with the club and rave scene in the late 90s and first couple years of the 2000s. Only reason I asked if any of those guys ever ended up stepping up higher into LCN was just because of how interconnected the rave scene and the fringes of LCN were in the 90s. Some of the big DJs and party promoters were from Bensonhurst / Gravesend and were known for getting extorted or paying tax to neighborhood crews, then you had Jimmy Colandra's brother involved with Limelight, the bottom rung kids in Wild Bill's crew running amok shaking down raves and clubs and selling Ecstacy, then Paciello, etc. - it was all one small world. It was a little before my time and I caught the tail end of it, but through these crazy young crews - the chop house scene, the rave scene, the drug scene, and the outer outer fringes of LCN were all kind of connected. There were so many "youth crews" - can't call them legit farm teams, I think that statement is way overblown - that it was insane. I have to think while the entire world has calmed down today big time, and NYC has changed, there's still gotta be a good amount of kids doing similar shit today. Outside of Staten Island, I think think Howard Beach / OZP and Middle Village are two areas where you're gonna find kids like that today
