Part 2. I apologize if this has already been posted.

NEFARIOUS WAYS OF JOHNNY SIDEBURNS

POSTED ON JANUARY 17, 2021BY JOHN PENNISI
John "Johnny Sideburns" Cerrella
A series on Johnny Sideburns…Part 2 https://sitdownnews.com/nefarious-ways/

Johnny Sideburns again hitched his wagon to wiseguys. Namely, the Romano brothers Carmine, his twin Peter, and Vincent. Besides brotherly love, the brothers had two things in common, fish and the mob. Widely known was the Romano name at the Fulton Fishmarket in the Hunts Point section of The Bronx. In addition to fish, the brothers were all [friends] members of the [west side] Genovese family.

The boys are back in town
Subsequently, with the loss of Paddy Mac now behind him Johnny Sideburns found relief in knowing he regained the protection of the Genovese family. He eventually partnered up with another young man named, Thomas “Tommy C” Chiantese.

By this time, Tommy C and Sideburns were now both associates of Vincent ” Big Fish” Romano. The oldest of the Romano brothers and a known tough guy. The twins, Carmine and Peter were more business-minded. In addition to this, Sideburns gave up his budding career as a bartender to be a full-time associate.

Meanwhile, seen around Florida and New York with Vincent Romano enabled Sideburns to puff his chest out again. The dynamic duo, (Sideburns & Chiantese) had permission to start a valet parking service company called, Sunshine.

Competing Company
One would think the Sunshine valet and parking service would have a competitive advantage over similar companies. After all, it had the backing of the Genovese family. King’s valet service owned by Mark Parnass was a thriving business. Parnass serviced the bars and nightclubs throughout the Fort Lauderdale area.

The dynamic duo decided to approach Parnass and give him an ultimatum, he was to join Sunshine and give up a third of his profits or he’d have to shut down. Repeatedly threatened and not looking for new business partners, Parnass went to the FBI. The FBI was already monitoring the heavy influx of organized crime families, including the Genovese family in the State of Florida. Parnass’s story was music to their ears so they had him wired for future encounters.

Speak Into The Mic
Enumerating the recorded conversations where the threats became more aggressive.

Sideburns: “…We will hurt you if we have to…” After warning Parnass they knew where his family and he lived. Parnass did not budge in spite of this threat enraging Sideburns.

Sideburns: “I’m gonna put you in a box…”

Subsequently, Parnass never had a hair on his head touched during any of these meetings where the threats continued.

Sideburns: “I ain’t coming back with another deal…You can tell the Feds, you can tell the local cops. I’ll put you in the hospital, you’ll come out and know I did it and I’ll put you in again.”

As an illustration of Johnny Sideburns not being a toughguy, he now tells Parnass he would hospitalize him after previously stating he would, ‘put him in a box.’

Good Guy, Bad Guy
The dynamic duo tried a tactic used by their opposition : law enforcement. Playing the role of the “Good guy” Chiantese tried his luck with Parnass.

Chiantese: “…It will be alright. We will do something together…”

Strategically trying to act as the protector who will protect him from the “Bad guy.” More than that, they hoped Parnass would be inclined to lean on Chiantese to keep Sideburns at bay.

The Demise of The Dynamic Duo
The United States Government indicted John “Johnny Sideburns” Cerrella along with Thomas “Tommy C” Chiantese in May 1975. Above all, their own recorded words were most compelling during the trial. Found guilty and convicted of interference with interstate commerce by extortion on September 4, 1975. Sideburns received a sentence of 16 years and Chiantese 13 years. In conclusion, Sunshine valet parking service was no longer in operation in the state of Florida. https://casetext.com/case/united-states-v-chiantese
