I am sure it's not like Goodfellas . But LCN guys have some freedom, in the sense , they can move freely on their wing and get some leeway cause they aren't trouble.CO's are always putting the LCN members and connected guys together . Usually the Italian OC guys are left to be. Even if they are just a few. Most of the gangs don't bother them. Most of these guys are in Federal prisons and not state which means they will run into other LCN members , from other families so they will usually have friendly company. There are Mafia prison wings in some federal prisons. CO's put the LCN members and connected guys together because they know they won't cause any problems. And maybe in prisons the mafiasos are not feared but in there they are truly respected.

There are Italian OC guys and Boston crews in most federal prisons. 30-40 of anything on a yard becomes a potent force. In the U.S., once you have a felony on your record, redemption is nearly impossible. You can't get jobs, loans, or government assistance, which means that a mobster has little choice but to continue their life of crime, even if they don't want to.
