Buddy Cianci

Does anyone have any info on this guy he was the mayor of Providence Rhode Island for 23 years and went to prison twice on 2 felonies he ran his campaigns on Anti-corruption. I have read or heard on a news report that he might have been a made member of the New England Mafia but he also fought patriarca in court. Does anyone have more insight?

Definitely not a member or associate of LCN, he was a prosecutor throughout his career, he knew guys here and there from silver lake and the hill, but so does everyone from those neighborhoods. When he went to ft dix he was there with Eddie, i know they associated with each other but nothing criminal at all

In Family Guy the junior high is named after Buddy Cianci. Little side note.

I think he only went to prison once, for that corruption case. He didn't do time for that other beef where he tortured the guy who was banging his wife lol but he had to resign as mayor. Getting re-elected a decade later moves him into GOAT mayor contender status among legends like Marion Barry and Rob Ford. Here's a decent article from back when he was on trial for RICO which talks about the case he worked against Patriarca back in the early 70s:

He was caught up in a Operation Plunder Dome back in 2000-early 2000’s. Fascinating story. Great book
