Just reading few FBI files and find this:
Tommy Eboli sometimes call them(Gambinos)‘degenerates’ and it is believed that this terminology may have come about through this close intermarriage within various members of the family.” (The FBI files on Thomas “Tommy Ryan” Eboli indicate that the Genovese acting boss never could stand Gambino, and an informant told the FBI in the early 1960s that Eboli characterized the Gambino crime family as “full of degenerates” after learning one of its soldiers was whacked for having an affair with his mother.
Any ideas who was involbed in this affair?

Philly member Michele Maggio killed his son and wife for having an affair together. It was his second wife, not the son's mother, but she was the mother of his other sons, including future member Peter Maggio. Michele Maggio was charged but not convicted as it was felt it was a justified response to the depravity.

Never heard of the Gambino example, but it's a similar situation.

The informant (Riccobene) was mistaken and later corrected himself in a later FBI interview. It was also widely publicized in newspaper accounts confirming it was Maggio. Brutal story, can't imagine what it was like to be Peter Maggio and the other sons who knew their father killed their mother for banging their half-brother. Talk about an honor killing.
