Ex-Gambino mobster Carmine Agnello released on bond after arrest in Cleveland stolen car scheme

Image

Reputed Gambino mobster Carmine Agnello was released Friday on a $100,000 personal bond in connection with his arrest for running a stolen car and scrap metal scheme in Cleveland.

Prosecutors had sought $1 million bail for Agnello, the ex-son-in-law of the late Gambino crime boss John Gotti, but he walked out of court without having to put up a dime.

His lawyer Ian Friedman blasted prosecutors for invoking Agnello’s past ties to Gotti and the Gambinos, and even pulling out a photo of a hose connected to a sewer at his scrap yard suggesting he was polluting the city’s water.

This case is a prime example that Cleveland has no LCN structure or presents any fear for a guy like Agnello coming in to Cleveland and setting up at $3-$4 million per year typical mob racket and not a soul shook him down not were there any reports he met with Joe Iacobacci or RJ Papalardo. Who knows, this may start a trend of mobsters going into former LCN territory and starting an independent racket.

Even if they did try to shake him down I think a gambino soldier easily trumps the "boss" of a 3 person family

My point was that Cleveland has been dead for years. And in regards to Agnello, who gives a fuck if he was a Gambino soldier? He is no longer associated with them. "if" Cleveland had a 3 person family, permission is still required to operate rackets in another family's territory. In this case, obviously there is no family left to get permission from.

A guy of Agnello's "infamy" in mob cities should have went to a place like Omaha, Des Moine or somewhere in California and set up shop. The minute he moved to Cleveland he had heat on him. He needs to change his name so he could blend in.

Unlikely they would try to shake him down. More likely that if a family existed there they would contact somebody in New York or perhaps Chicago and then this would be resolved with some meeting and Agnello would then have to pay a certain amount and it would be divided between Cleveland guys and whoever was nice enough to make the judgement in New York.

A lot of these things are resolved without violence. If any violence came it would be from Gambino family because there would be guys who would definitely want a cut from Agnello's business.

I think your thinking of the old days. You don't need permission to operate in the territory of a defunct family. I doubt the remaining inactive guys really give a shit what anyone does there. That family hasn't really existed since the 80's. Chicago is a still viable family but I doubt if agnello was doing that here anyone would try and shake him down it's not like that anymore in most places not New York.

I'll reiterate..."IF" Cleveland still had a family, regardless of size, permission would still be needed. "BUT" since Cleveland's family is defunct, it isn't relevant. You said Agnello holds more weight as a Gambino sdoer than a 3 person family...I disagree completely with that
