Re: Little Vic Orena Faction & Sons
The rest of the Orena faction, aside from certain factions like the Colombo Bros. Crew or “the Long Island guys”, came back into the family amicably. Most of the wayward Long Island guys were brought back into the fold by the turn of the millennium, while the Colombo Bros. Crew continued to be a renegade crew until their 2004 indictment.Shellackhead wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 3:40 pm What happened to the rest of the Orena faction loyalist & his 4 sons after the war?
Orena and his two made sons were all arrested. They got out of prison around 2000 IIRC, and they weren’t involved in the Life after that (it appears), as both made members collaborated with the “Deal with the Devil” book about Greg Scarpa.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

I read in a story written about Tommy Shots that some crew members that were under Orena’s Captains didn’t come into the fold until the late 2000s. What they did to Wild Bill was disgusting.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:41 pm

Wild Bill Cuotolo was naive when he thought Allie boy gave him the Underboss spot to end the feud. They just bided their time to take him out. Carmine the Snake Persico did not get that nickname for being a nice guy!
Re: Little Vic Orena Faction & Sons
The orena kids I heard basically made a deal with the persicos to stay in Florida and all is well.. there’s multiple pictures of them in the last couple years hanging out with tumac jr. down in Florida... I’m not sure but I think only 1 of the brothers ever put in work..
Re: Little Vic Orena Faction & Sons
Honestly I would love to know exactly what happened with Wild Bill getting killed, there never was like an exact story ... a lot of people told me that there was no way in hell that he would have got in a car if Allie boy wasn’t there.... but then I heard basically he got picked up by tommy shots and big Dino and they said that Allie was gonna meet them .. I heard the whole ride he kept asking where Allie was.. I’m sure he sensed he was doomed... but took it.. he had to know walking into little Dino’s basement that Allie wasn’t there and he was getting hit... I’m surprised he even got in the car... he seemed like such a veteran and knew all the tricks... crazy they persicos waited that long to finally hit him... waited years acting like the bad blood was over.. I understand Allie jr’s Position on the hit.. cause I’m sure Wild Bill would have probably taken over once Allie jr went away for the gun charge.. but overall fornthe family it was a dumb move.. but we know the persicos will never let go of the Colombo family.... I wonder what Teddy’s up to now that he’s out???? I would think he would have to be running things on the street with final word coming from Allie jr in the can... he’s probably going to do the same shit his dad did and not let go of the reigns evebthoug he’s doing life...NYNighthawk wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 5:15 pm Wild Bill Cuotolo was naive when he thought Allie boy gave him the Underboss spot to end the feud. Gohn wrote a good breakdown of how it all transpired. From his story on Tommy Gioeli.
In 1999, in order to appease Cutolo and his fearsome crew, Allie reshuffled the family administration. Since old-school consigliere Vinny Aloi had retired to Florida, Joe Waverly Cacace was swapped in his place. This new job was probably good news to Cacace, since the law enforcement pressure on him was so great that he was having trouble serving as underboss. In his place, Allie Persico promoted Wild Bill Cutolo, a man who never shied away from the spotlight and clearly didn't mind the law enforcement pressure. Cutolo was the head of a sprawling Brooklyn-based crew of murderers, and earned seven figures from gambling, loansharking, drugs, and unions. During the war, Cutolo and his crew were the largest and most violent members of the Orena faction. He shot at top figures in the Persico clan, including some of Allie Boy's own relatives. Prosecutors caught up to him, and charged him with racketeering and murder crimes in 1993. But, after his attorneys skillfully argued that Cutolo and his guys were simply defending themselves from 'evil' FBI informer Greg Scarpa, he beat the case and walked free. Despite his previous allegiance, his crew was too large and too violent for the beleaguered Colombos to butt heads with, and Allie Persico invited him back into the family after a few years had passed. He accepted and, in 1999, was promoted to underboss in an apparent peace gesture.
But even the other families in New York began to see that Cutolo's position would not last long. Anthony Rotondo, a DeCavalcante capo during the '90s, later testified that the new underboss was "strutting around like a rooster" after his promotion. According to Gang Land News, Wild Bill even predicted his own demise in a conversation he had with Rotondo. Allie Persico had asked "for an accounting of all (Cutolo's) money-making rackets," said Gang Land, which covered the Cutolo trial at length. "You know what's happening next," he told Rotondo after the move by Allie.
Shortly after Cutolo's promotion to underboss, Persico signed a plea deal to gun charges in Florida and got ready for a short stretch behind bars. Even though he would only serve a couple of years, he knew he couldn't trust that Cutolo would be content as number two He figured Billy would make a play for the top, just like he had done six years earlier in the conflict that saw twelve people dead. Persico, frantically, ordered Gioeli to see to it that Cutolo was never found again.
After receiving the order, Tommy Shots called upon his trusted protégé, Big Dino, to meet him at the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, "where Tommy would go to pray," Calabro recalled. Gioeli was a regular attendee of the church and found that it was an inconspicuous and convenient place to pass along important messages. Always conscious of law enforcement, Gioeli issued a series of codewords and hand signals that would make any surveilling FBI agent's head spin. Tommy told Dino that "he had just left Pooch and Betty Boop" - nicknames for acting Colombo boss Allie Persico and capo John 'Jackie' DeRoss. Gioeli had his own, bizarre names for other mobsters that FBI agents wouldn't be able to decipher. He then placed his hand over his heart - a signal that he wanted somebody whacked - and held up four fingers - a reference to the fact that Cutolo was missing a finger.
That was all that needed to be said. On May 24, 1999, Allie Boy Persico notified federal authorities that he was flying to New York from his residence in Florida "to take care of some business," according to an affidavit by FBI agent Margaret Carmichel, as reported by Gang Land News on May 31, 2001.
The next morning, in the Big Apple, Persico beeped Cutolo three times in nine minutes and put off a scheduled meeting that the men had planned to have the following day. For whatever reason, Persico used a phone that was known to federal authorities - he, in fact, had given the Probation Department the phone's number so they could contact him if need be. The bold Cutolo "complained openly" about the change of plans, stating "that the unexpected change would inconvenience him greatly," according to Carmichael's report.
Wild Bill followed a routine like clockwork, and on May 26 - as he did every Wednesday - he went into his Manhattan office at Local 400 of the Production Workers Union to meet with a business agent. He had been followed by a Special Operations team of FBI agents as he drove his "big burgundy-red Ford Expedition from his home in Staten Island across the Verrazano Bridge into Brooklyn and on to the Manhattan offices of the union he controlled," according to a Gang Land article from July 17, 2003. Cutolo had been the subject of a grand jury investigation looking into extortion allegations, and he had been named in a probe of financial irregularities at District Council 37. Feds had raided his social club the past spring as part of the investigation, trying to find new rackets charges against the underboss that would put him behind bars alongside his boss Carmine Persico, and acting boss Little Allie Boy.
"After signing payroll checks" for a few hours, "he told his secretary he would see her next Wednesday and departed for a rendezvous with Persico in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn," wrote Gang Land in a May 31, 2001 article. FBI agents were able to tail him into Brooklyn, but lost him at a red light. A few minutes passed before they spotted his car on the sidewalk at a nearby garage where Cutolo had left his car for repairs. Wild Bill, however, had obviously swapped cars and was nowhere to be seen. A civilian witness later came forward and testified that Billy was in the "vicinity of 92nd and Shore Road (apparently) waiting for someone" to pick him up.
Going on his past routine, the FBI staked out Bruno's Hair Masters at 8509 21st Ave. in Bensonhurst where the flashy underboss got his hair neatly trimmed every Wednesday. But, he wasn't there - he was on his way to what he thought was a top-level strategy meeting with Allie Boy. Unfortunately, Persico wasn't at the Brooklyn meeting place. He was all the way in Garden City, L.I., meeting with his attorney Barry Levin, discussing the nitty-gritty of his weapons possession plea deal.
Tommy Gioeli was the unidentified man who picked Cutolo up and, instead, drove him to the Bensonhurst home of Little Dino Saracino. Calabro, well known as Gioeli's top aide, met Cutolo in the driveway.
"We shook hands," Calabro recalled in 2012. "He said, 'Allie's here, right? Where are we going?'""He went in, and I followed him and pulled out my gun and shot him in the head. He just went 'Whoa,' and fell backward into the closet."
Longtime Gioeli associate Vincent 'Downtown Vinny' Manzo, 58, picked up Wild Bill's corpse and drove it to a Long Island bowling alley where he regrouped with Tommy Shots. Manzo was then directed to Tommy's East Farmingdale industrial park, which was becoming more and more crowded with bodies. Dino and Nooch Calabro were at the scene, as was Little Dino Saracino, who helped Manzo hogtie the body, stuff it in a garbage bag, and bury it. Gioeli patiently waited in a nearby Dunkin' Donuts as his henchmen mixed Cutolo's watch, beeper and jewelry in a bucket of concrete, which they then dumped off a Brooklyn pier.
Following the assassination, Allie Boy was weary about admitting he had whacked Wild Bill, whose hit hadn't been authorized by anyone on the Mafia Commission. Sometime during the latter part of 1999, Tommy Shots beeped his pal Sal Vitale, and the two met at the Hilton Hotel. Tommy reported that Allie Persico wanted to meet with Joe Massino, and Sal told Tommy to pick a time and a date. They arranged on a time, and Tommy picked up the pair at a restaurant on the Belt Parkway called "Albatremento's," which was on a pier. He drove them off Fort Hamilton Parkway, onto Third Avenue, and into an inconspicuous brick house where Allie and Joe Waverly were.
This was both Massino and Vitale's first time meeting Allie Boy, and Joe Waverly introduced the infamous mob prince as "acting boss for the Colombo family." After all the introductions were complete, Allie allegedly made a mysterious comment to the attendees;
"You can't take what's not yours." The comment left no doubt in Vitale's mind that Allie had murdered William Cutolo. (The problem with that quote is that it took Vitale eight years to remember it, and it was hotly contested at Allie Boy's 2007 trial).
It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
