Yes Ninny's book is/was huge here in Monmouth and Ocean Counites at the Shore. I think the first time it got jammed up was when I was still back in High School in like 2003/2004ish I wanna say with Little Larry Dentico who was in Seaside Park at the time. It is/was a massive and lucrative sportsbook, always has been.

Ninny loved Jimmy's in Asbury. If you read his obituary his family is actually going to throw a party for him there when all this pandemic craziness is in the rearview. Jimmy's is a great old school red sauce joint, I reccomend it. The bar there is cool to grab a drink at before you sit down to eat because of the huge trays of antipasto they throw out onto the bar for free to munch on and theres always a fun crowd there.

Ninny has a son thats gotta be in his 40s or early 50s that grew up here at the shore, I dont know if he was involved in his Father's sportsbook but an operation like that just doesnt go away over night. I wonder who got that sportsbook.

Sounds great, Shore. I’ll put in a visit when I’m free to travel. Is it a safe town though? Did not look like it after a quick google search

Ninny's kid is not involved in LCN in any way. Big Lou holds court at Pier Village. Hes got an ocean front condo there.

Asbury Park is pretty dirty, but I've never had a problem there safety wise. Stay by the boardwalk (which Jimmy's is a 5 minute drive from) and you're good to go. The area itself is a heavy gay community along with blacks. But, during the summer at least, tons of people from all over Monmouth are there for food and the beach.

Pier Village is really nice, good for Big Lou - He's gotta be making some nice coin to have ocean front there.

You used to see Skinny Joey's wife hanging out with her friends at Pier Village a lot when Joey was away for his long bid because she relocated from South Philly to Monmouth County to raise their two girls.

Yeah I remember that.. the envelopes for Joey during those years when he was away must have been thin.. to the point where ͏d͏e͏b and their 2 daughters had to move in with her parents in wayside(Monmouth) and the daughters attended high school at Monmouth... Joey didn’t hesitate to make up for it financially once he got home though....

Like most places when it comes to geographics... the closer you are to the beach =the nicer of an area it is... the further inland you go.. the worse it gets... I think that’s accurate for most places... as for asbury it seems to have been getting more young/liberal/lgbtq(sorry if I left any out, I can’t keep up) but anyways the 3 different people I know who grew up in asbury all said the same shit... it’s nice overall especially by the beach, yet once you go west over the train tracks it gets noticeably worse.. all towns have their good and bad parts.. my hometown overall is nice.. but on my side of the freeway was considered the “rougher” side, especially if you where white, (which I am) and I grew up across the street from the only government housing projects in my town... drive 5 10 minutes over the freeway and to the north and there’s a neighborhood that brittney Spears lived in for a while...

In the mid to late 1990s I remember as a kid going into Asbury Park with my Dad and it looked like an Eastern European War Zone. A matter of fact it was then known as "Sarajevo by the Sea". Fast Forward to current times and it is completely gentrified with Million Dollar condos now listed. I cant believe how nice it is. Its unrecognizable. Its also trendy to hang out in. I missed that boat I am 35, but all the kids now in their 20s now hang out in Asbury for the nightlife. Porta is the hotspot.

You can see some remnants of the old Asbury Park in The Sopranos scenes filmed there with the abandoned Convention Hall. Asbury Park still is a little shitty west of the NJ Transit train tracks. Jimmys is actually in the less desireable area, but no one fucks with the Italians there and you valet your car when you go there, I have never ever had a problem there.
